Boston Celtics

Few teams are as beaten up as the Boston Celtics nowadays. As the Celtics host the New Jersey Nets on Wednesday night, they will be without their MVP Kevin Garnett and burgeoning forward Leon Powe. Furthermore, Rajan Rondo, who has been battling a sore ankle, is probable for the contest but won’t be 100%.

Even so, the Celtics have won eight of their last nine games. Meanwhile, the Nets have won just twice in their last eight games.

Boston is 9-2 against the Nets in the last 11 meetings and have covered the spread eight times. Look for the Celtics too keep streaking but the Nets should be able to cover the big spread.

New York Knicks

The New York Knicks didn’t expect to be competitive this season but they would have at least hoped to finish the season strong with positive prospects heading into next season. Given the way they have played recently, that won’t be the case.

The Knicks have lost 11 of their last 13 games and have been about as listless as anyone in the league. But the Detroit Pistons have given them a run as the Pistons are just 4-9 in their last 13 games while trying to lock down a playoff spot.

While both teams have struggled, the Knicks might be the play here. They are 6-3 as a home underdog of 3.5 to six points this season.

New Orleans Hornets

The New Orleans Hornets have officially clinched a playoff berth and they can put the Phoenix Suns out of their playoff misery on Wednesday night as well.

The Suns, who are hanging by the slightest of slight threads, need to win out and hope that the Dallas Mavericks lose all of their remaining games to make the playoffs.

There is no real reason to trust the Suns as they have lost four of their last six games while the Hornets have won four of six.

The Suns are just 4-19 as an underdog this season and 7-16 against the spread in those games.
