NBA Betting Free Picks – Golden State Warriors vs. San Antonio Spurs

Bookmark and Share by Tim Furious

One of the lengthiest betting spread winning streaks in the NBA came to an end when San Antonio got torn apart by the Magic. With an end score of 84-110 and a -7.0 point line uncovered, the Spurs’ promising 8-0 ATS run came to an end. Now they’re a “disappointing” 8-1 ATS in their past 9 games. That shouldn’t deter you as they host the Golden State Warriors.

The veteran Spurs are equipped to handle heartbreaking defeats that would suck the wind out of younger teams. Tim Duncan’s Spurs are 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home stands and the fact that they’re best defensive rebounding team in the league is proof that this is a team that pays attention to the details.

In the past 10 games against the Warriors, the Spurs have had little problem with the plucky scoring of Golden State. They’re 8-2 SU and 6-3-1 ATS in the past 10 games against Golden State. In late November, they covered a -13.5 home line by beating the Warriors 118-104.

The one thing that I have seriously admired about the Spurs is their ability to expose younger teams that don’t have the fluid chemistry that they possess. Considering the issues that Golden State has had to deal with on the injury reserve, they’re not properly equipped to challenge the Spurs when traveling on the road.

Spurs -11.5

Ironically, the Warriors are putting together a NBA betting streak of their own. They’re just 2-7 SU in their past 9 games but have gone 7-2 ATS during that stretch, including a 5-0 ATS streak in the past five games overall.

On the road, the Warriors have gone 0-5 SU and are an admirable 3-2 ATS in the past 5 games. But I can’t get past the matchup problems for them in this game. The Spurs are simply too grizzled and tenacious on the boards to give the Warriors the second chances they’ll need to keep this game tight.

The Spurs get back on the horse by covering the spread in this game and snap the Warriors streak against the betting line in the process. Just don’t think that the second best road scoring team in the league will go in to the night quietly.
