NBA Betting Odds: Knicks vs Grizz
by Tommy Long

The Memphis Grizzlies are coming off one of their biggest wins of the season; beating the Boston Celtics, they set a franchise record for consecutive road wins at five. Now they hope their road success can translate into home success as they host the New York Knick in Friday night NBA action.
The NBA Odds makers have set the Grizzlies as -8 point favorites and the posted game total is 210 points.
:
New York Knicks -8 Over 210
Memphis Grizzlies +8 Under 210
The Grizzlies are looking to get back into the Western Conference playoff for the first time in four years; they currently sit in 9th place 3½ games back of Portland for 8th place. When the season started, the most experts, including this one, thought the Grizzlies were going to be a train wreck.
They had to find enough shots to satisfy a team of chuckers, O.J. Mayo, Rudy Gay, Zach Randolph and Allen Iverson. However, Allen Iverson only played in three games before leaving the team and then the rest of the Grizzlies pulled together and played competitive basketball.
They sit on the outside looking in for the NBA playoffs but they are far from an easy out for their opponents, with an ATS record of 35-29-1.
While the Grizzlies are hoping to have one of their best seasons, the Knicks have already guaranteed themselves a franchise record ninth consecutive losing season with their 13th loss in 16 games. Against the spread, they aren’t much better at 29-35 but this season is all about setting up for next season.

Donnie Walsh pulled off a coup at the NBA trade deadline, managing to clear enough cap space to sign at least one and possibly two max players next season. The fans of New York will quickly forget nine losing season if the Knicks can land the biggest free agent of the 2010 season, LeBron James.
The Grizzlies have been solid against the NBA’s Atlantic division going 7-1 in their past eight. However, at home and as a favorite Memphis has had trouble meeting expectations, they are 0-8 in their past eight games as a favorite at home. The Knicks are 4-1 ATS in their last five as an underdog but against the Western Conference, they are just 2-9 ATS and 0-5 vs. the Southwest.
If you are betting NBA totals and I think this is a game where we should, the past five games in the series have gone over the total, the Grizzlies have gone over the total in 10 of their past 11 games against the Atlantic Division. With the shooters on both sides of the ball, the total of 210 shouldn’t be a problem to reach, neither team play enough defense to worry about the game going under.
