NBA Betting Preview – Indiana Pacers Attempt To Sneak Past Celtics

Bookmark and Share by Tim Furious

When it comes to betting with Boston on the basketball spread, you have to ride the wave or get the hell out of dodge. Whether the opponent is the Indiana Pacers, a playoff contender or an oddsmaker, the Celtics have been a streaky team. A promising four game winning streak was snapped in a loss to Milwaukee and then turned in to a losing skid against Memphis. Times are not at their best in Boston sports betting.

The Celtics are now 3-3 ATS in their last six games, and the past three in particular have all been losses against the line. You could say that the Celtics are ready to snap back in to a winning mode, but their lifeless play this week has left everyone scratching their heads. Even worse is the fact that they’re just 7-8 SU in the past two months when playing at home.

Speaking of streaks, now would be a good time to mention that the Pacers are 4-0 ATS in their last four meetings with the Celtics and will get a well-rested Danny Granger back in the lineup. Granger served a one-game suspension for a fight in the battle against the Phoenix Suns, and his play in particular has been why the Celtics have had nightmares against the Pacers. Granger dropped 29-points against the Celtics earlier this year.

Indiana Pacers (21-43) vs. Boston Celtics (40-23)

Friday, March 12 th --- TD Garden --- 7:30pm EST

NBA Betting Line: Boston -9.5 (200)

While I continue my motif of streaks in this article, the Pacers have also beaten the basketball betting line in their last three efforts, bringing them to an overall record of 3-2 ATS in their past 5 games. On the road, they’re 4-3 ATS in their past 7 games away from home.

Wins haven’t exactly been forthcoming for the Pacers this season, and catching a Boston team at home won’t serve them any favors as they head for the lottery and bolster their basement standing in the Atlantic Division. But a win against the oddsmakers is simply where you have to lean.

Championship teams win no matter what the situation is. They simply find a way to muscle over and through obstacles and it shouldn’t matter if they’re sick, tired or apathetic. I’m not sure which particular ailment is dragging down the morale in the Celtics’ locker room, but this is not the stuff champions are made of. Another spread loss should be enough for the Boston betting faithful to jump ship if they haven’t already done so.

Furious Free Pick: Indiana +9.5 (UNDER)
