NBA Finals and it should be a fun one to watch.

San Antonio has been off for seven days and the rust factor will be one of the questions that will have to be answered early on.

Given the fact that the Cavaliers are not an adept offensive powerhouse, regardless of how poorly the Spurs shoot in the first quarter or first half, the Cavs are not capable of running away with the game, therefore rendering the rust factor moot.

Since Cleveland is on the road and this being the first Finals experience for most of their players – save Eric Snow and Scott Pollard – they will have to keep their nerves in check. As previously mentioned, they are not a strong offensive team and cannot get discouraged if they hear a few clanks early on.

Their foundation of strength needs to come from their defensive game. If they can stymie the Spurs early on and throughout Game 1, that will give them the confidence that they can do it throughout the series.

The Cavs point guard situation is in flux and they will have to settle it early on. Starter, Larry Hughes, has a mild heel sprain, which has limited his minutes. But in his absence, Daniel Gibson has stepped in and played tremendously.

When Gibson was on the floor, though, the Pistons attacked him on offense because of his inexperience. Hughes simply does not have the quickness to stop Tony Parker, especially on a bad heel, which means Gibson will likely have to increase his playing time in the series and in Game 1.

That could be a good thing for Pistons. If he loses his confidence, it will be a severe blow to the Cavs.

The Spurs are nearly impossible to stop when Parker is penetrating, and the Cavs are faced with this early dilemma.

For now, the Cavs are a confident bunch and should be able to keep Game 1 close.
