NBA Finals Free Picks – San Antonio Spurs vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

If you are just tuning in to the Finals, do not be fooled by the scores of the past two games. The San Antonio crushed them in both games. Hopefully, the comforts of playing at home will reap bigger rewards for LeBron.

The NBA Finals take their spectacle to Cleveland for the first time in thirty-seven years. While it is always good to end droughts, Cavs fans have to be worried about the state of this series. A weak supporting roster for LeBron has been much to blame.

Larry Hughes has been useless in this series, largely due to a sprained foot. Zydrunas Ilgauskas is spending way too much time on the floor. His Brazilian counterpart, Anderson Varejao, has been inconsistent and ineffective in putting Tim Duncan, or any Spur, into foul trouble.

But, the coaching has to be the biggest blame here. The Spurs are rotating of screens and picks so well that the Cavs are almost always out of position. Most of the time, they are leaving two men open and the Spurs have too many capable scorers to allow that to happen.

What else am I tired of? Well, the Finals biggest sub-plot is that Tony and Eva are together. We know this! We have known this for a very long time! Enough is enough. Forget Desperate Housewives. The NBA Finals are quickly becoming a series worthy of the title “Desperate NBA Fans.”

A faint glimmer of hope rises in the form of Daniel Gibson. The young rookie has been the only person on the Cavs roster remotely capable of staying in front of Tony Parker. He may get a chance to start tonight in place of Hughes, who is nursing a foot injury. Gibson is a spark off the bench, and can score (15 and 16 in first two games) against the Spurs.

Game three is the same point that the Detroit Pistons eased off the gas against the Cavs. That could be a big mistake in this series if LeBron is able to get going. Gibson and the King have proven to be a formidable duo in the playoffs. As far as game three goes, however, the LeBron and the Cavs will be feeding off the huge emotional momentum from their home crowd.

The Cavs are desperate and Mike Brown’s coaching hand will be forced to devise a new strategy to clog the Spurs’ wide passing lanes. Bet on the Cavaliers to take the win with the charge being led by Gibson and James as the Spurs back off the intensity in game three.
