NBA FREE PICKS – Nets at Cavs

Bookmark and Share by Vegas Dave

With only ten games remaining in the Chicago Bulls are in a tight race to the end. Up for stakes is the second seed in the Eastern Conference.

If the playoffs started today, the second-seeded Bulls or Cavs would enjoy a home-court advantage over the New Jersey Nets. The other team would finish as low as fifth in the Eastern Conference, but still boast a home-court advantage over the current NBA Champion Miami Heat.

Needless to say, both teams would prefer to face the Nets instead of the Heat.

On Thursday, the Cavaliers will be playing the team they would rather face in the first round, needing a win to gain some ground on the Bulls.

The Cavs haven’t fared so well against the Nets in recent years, particularly not against the spread. The Nets are 9-1 against the spread versus Cleveland in the last three years and a perfect 5-0 in the meetings played in Cleveland.

Needless to say, the Nets seem to have their number.

Interestingly enough, the Cavaliers really struggle after scoring 85 points or less in their previous game. Against the spread in such situations, they are 2-8 this year, 9-24 in the last three years and 86-127 since 1996.

On the other hand, the Nets are 5-1 versus the number this year as a road underdog of 6.5 to 9 points.

Cleveland Cavaliers (46-32)
