NBA Parlay Action - Six Games to Win Big

Bookmark and Share by Dave D

So the Boston Celtics cooled off after their record-setting start but sports betting handicappers should take notice that they are back in a groove.

The Celtics have won five straight and their last three have come by an average of 23 points per game.

Meanwhile, the Miami Heat are back home playing their first game after a seven-game road trip. The Heat won three of their last four games but all three wins were against teams with a losing record. They seem to be a bit weighed down by the pending Shawn Marion trade and their focus is lacking.

Expect the Celtics to keep rolling.

Pick: Celtics -5.5

Phoenix Suns @ New York Knicks

The Phoenix Suns will faceoff with their former head coach, Mike D’Antoni, as they head to Madison Square Garden to face the Knicks.

The Suns are 11-8 on the road but have lost two of their last three on the road.

The battle on the court will be a battle of philosophy: the Suns will try to slow the game down and pound it inside while the Knicks will try to run and gun like the Suns used to do.

Look for a spirited performance by the Knicks as they keep this one close.

Pick: Knicks +6

New Jersey Nets @ New Orleans Hornets

Another coach meets up with his former team as Byron Scott’s New Orleans Hornets face his former team, the New Jersey Nets.

The Nets are a strange team these days as they are fresh off a 20-point home beat down at the hands of the Celtics. In that game, head coach Lawrence Frank benched Devin Harris and Vince Carter, which makes you wonder what’s happening in New Jersey right now.

Aside from their current two-game winning streak, the Hornets have alternated wins and losses throughout all of January. Part of the problem has been injuries and both David West and Tyson Chandler are questionable for Wednesday.

New Jersey should put forth a spirited effort. Especially after their coach gave their stars a big kick in the butt.

Pick: New Jersey +5

Utah Jazz @ Houston Rockets

The Utah Jazz and Houston Rockets were both supposed to be Western Conference powerhouses but both teams have been hampered by injuries.

The Jazz have played most of the season without Carlos Boozer and he will be out again on Wednesday night and Andrei Kirilenko is also doubtful.

For the Rockets, they’ve haven’t been at full strength this season either and they might be without both Ron Artest and Tracy McGrady on Wednesday.

With both teams hurting, look for the Rockets to exploit their home-court advantage and put away the Jazz, who are playing on back-to-back nights.

Pick: Rockets -4.5

Cleveland Cavaliers @ Portland Trail Blazers

The Cleveland Cavaliers are in the midst of a West Coast road trip and right now they are finding out how good they really are.

They are 30-9 and have lost two of their last three games, both of which came on the road.

The Trail Blazers will be a stiff test for the Cavs as Portland is 15-4 at home this season. More importantly, they are hot right now winning four of their last six.

The Trail Blazers are a dynamic team with size and versatility. Look for the Cavs to have some problems with that as they begin to learn what it really takes to beat the best in the West.

Pick: Trail Blazers PICK

Los Angeles Lakers @ Los Angeles Clippers

Normally, it’s not smart to endorse a 16-point favorite. But for the Lakers, they are playing a “road” game, which is in the same arena where they play home games, and the Clippers are extremely short-handed.

The Clippers will be without Baron Davis, Zach Randolph, Marcus Camby and Chris Kaman on Wednesday, which, needless to say, leaves them thin.

The problem will be in the front court where rookie DeAndre Jordan will be asked to deal with Pau Gasol/Andrew Bynum. The Clippers might mail this one in early.

Pick: Lakers -16
