Dallas Mavericks vs. Minnesota Timberwolves

Talk about a miss-match.  The Dallas Mavericks, who have been on fire of late, will be looking to extend their season-high winning streak to 12 games. It’s a relative nba betting lock as they are going up against the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are the shameful owners of one of the league’s worst records, but what else is new in Minnesota.

Dallas earned a hard fought shootout against the Chicago Bulls on Saturday, prevailing with a 122-116 victory. Disco Dirk Nowitzki did what he does best, scoring 27 points, and he got help from an unexpected source as Rodrigue Beaubois put in a career-high 24 points. Beaubois has been heating up of late, averaging 21 points, 3 rebounds, 3.3 assists over his last three outings.

Minnesota, on the other hand, is going in the exact opposite way in terms of streaks. They are 1-11 over their past 12 games and have the pleasure of hosting the Mavericks tonight and also Denver and San Antonio during this home stand.  The first game of their 4-game stand was a 112-98 loss to the Houston Rockets on Saturday with Kevin Love leading the way with 20 points and 11 boards, while Ryan Gomes added 17 points. Just to drive home how poor Minnesota has been playing of late, they are winless in their last five home games and 9-22 at the Target Center this season.

Here are some pro basketball betting trends for this matchup:

  • Under is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings in Minnesota.
  • Mavericks are 7-0 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Minnesota.
  • Under is 15-6 in the last 21 meetings.
  • Road team is 22-6 ATS in the last 28 meetings.

Dallas is a 6.5 road favourite, but the way the Timberwolves have been playing, this one could get up into the double digits.

Golden State Warriors vs. New Orleans Hornets

The Warriors conclude a five game road trip tonight against the New Orleans Hornets, and saying they haven’t fared very well is an understatement. They have lost each of the first four games on the trip, the last coming on Saturday night at the hands of the Charlotte Bobcats to the tune of 101-90.

Golden State has had to play without the services of its best player for some time, as guard Monta Ellis is going to miss his sixth straight game due to a sore back. The loss of Ellis really leaves this team thin, as the Warriors lack the type of depth to be able to fill his shoes. They have been a bad team even with him in the line-up, especially on the road having lost 27 of their 31 outings as the visitor.

The Hornets will be welcoming the wounded Warriors to town with open arms as they are in the middle of a losing streak themselves. New Orleans has dropped its last four games and five of the past six contests to fall out of the playoff picture in the West, currently sitting in 11th place, five games back of Portland for the final playoff spot.

With the Hornets only giving up 6 points to a Golden State team at the end of a long and winless road trip, they should take it to them early and often, putting this one out of reach by the third quarter.
