Here are some of the head-to-head NBA pro basketball sports betting trends as they relate to this matchup:
- DEN has won four of the last six meetings SU
- DEN has covered four of the last six meetings
- Four of the last five meetings have gone OVER the total
- SA has won four of the last five meetings SU as the home team
- Eight of the last nine meetings in San Antonio have gone UNDER the total
- DEN has had the rebounding edge in five of the last six meetings
- SA has made more three-pointers in eight of the last ten meetings
Carmelo Anthony is really going after the scoring title, isn’t he? The seventh-year forward out of Syracuse has scored at least 20 points in every game this year, and he is the only NBA player to do that this season. He is also the league's leading scorer at 30.2 points per game. He had 22 points on Thursday, and shot just 35% on what has to be considered an off day, as his team beat Miami 114-96.

The problem with guys like Anthony, who go flat-out for individual milestones, is that they often can detrimental to the overall team effort.
Denver hasn't been hurt by that yet, as evidenced by their 14-5 record, but you have to wonder when it's going to happen. In this particular case, the Nuggets are facing a San Antonio team that has to be growling after a rather disappointing effort and result against the Celtics on Thursday night, in which they lost by seven points, shooting 42% from the field and even worse, just 41% from the free throw line.
The Spurs have lost at home to Oklahoma City and Utah, aside from Boston, and on a couple of those occasions they've had rest, but they have not lost at home in back-to-back games. They were actually riding a five-game overall winning streak until the Thursday loss. DeJuan Blair had nice game, with a season-high 18 points and eleven rebounds, two more if you include one shot he tipped into his own basket by mistake, and he has been a pleasant surprise, averaging 5.9 rebounds in just 15 minutes of playing time a game. He's also shooting 62%. Expect that he'll get more minutes,. He brings a nastiness to the interior that San Antonio had been lacking.
The Spurs should be laying a reasonable number, so I would prefer them as a favorite in the BetUS NBA pro basketball betting odds.
JAY'S PREDICTION: SAN ANTONIO BY 8
