Rebuilding Rival Teams Meet as New Jersey Nets Host New York Knicks

The New York Knicks (2-2) and New Jersey Nets (2-2) will play a home-and-home preseason series for the sixth consecutive preseason. After meeting tonight in Jersey, the teams will hook up at Madison Square Garden in the Knicks preseason finale on October 24.

The Knicks are coming off a 104-97 win over the Boston Celtics on Friday that I correctly predicted that day in the BetUS Sportsbook.

New York rode a 13-2 third-quarter run to turn a 66-66 tie into a 79-68 lead with three minutes remaining in the third quarter before holding on for a 104-97 victory over the defending champs at TD Banknorth Garden.

Point guard Nate Robinson led the Knicks with 19 points and underachieving power forward Zach Randolph added 15 points in the win.

The very same Celtics, led by Tony Allen’s game-high 32 points, gave New Jersey their first loss of the preseason on Thursday night, spanking the Nets despite playing without their ‘Big Three.’

New Jersey was led by head case shooting guard Vince Carter who scored a team-high 19 points and grabbed four rebounds while second year power forward, Yi Jianlian, played chipped in 15 points before fouling out with a little over two minutes left in the third quarter.

The Knicks are averaging 108.5 points per game on 45.1 percent shooting from the field while allowing a whopping 107.5 points per game defensively on 47.4 percent shooting.

The Nets are averaging just 92.0 points per game on 42.5 percent shooting while allowing 96.0 points per contest on 43.5 percent shooting.
