The Miami Heat avoided nuclear winter in NBA betting picks by outlasting Kobe Bryant and the Lakers, defeating the defending champions 94-88 and kept the steam rolling with a huge 118-85 win over Memphis. Now they have a chance to avenge their 95-125 point loss against the best team in the NBA as they host San Antonio tonight.
Still, the community isn’t as high on Miami as you’d think. Their 3-6 SU and 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games is still a bit nauseating. It really depends on Chris Bosh who has had 24 and 18 points in his last two games. Certainly, it’s comforting right now when everything’s rolling but Miami is still healing. Pumping your chest after two wins at home is nothing to scream about.
A win over San Antonio might be.
The problem is that San Anotnio doesn’t exactly give up losses that easily. They’re a solid 8-3 SU in their last 11 games, losing to the Lakers, Grizzlies and Bulls only. When everyone’s gunning for you as the best team in the league, losing games like that are excusable, especially in the realm of NBA betting picks.
San Antonio Spurs (54-12) vs. Miami Heat (45-21)

NBA Betting Line: Miami -4.5 (199.5)
The Spurs are also very strong on the road. Their 6-3 ATS record on the road is pretty profitable, especially when you envision that they’re a pretty public team that most people jump on when they’re on the top of the mountain. Historically, the Spurs have loved visiting South Beach where they’re a solid 4-1 SU in their last 5 visits.
When the Heat are building a winning streak, the oddsmakers get generous and that makes sense but it’s also not fair to them. They have as many problems as any other contender out there, if not more. That’s why I don’t necessarily trust the Heat in NBA betting picks when they’re playing at home, especially with a Spurs team that would love nothing more than denying them some old fashioned revenge.
Furious NBA Betting Picks – San Antonio +4.5 (UNDER)
Los Angeles Clippers +5.5 over MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES
The Clippers are a sexy 5-1 SU and ATS in their last 6 games which makes them incredibly appealing, but I’m worried about this young team in the late stretch of a long NBA season. I’m also worried about the Grizzlies getting inflated lines lately. They’ve had trouble covering since not trading Zach Randolph, because the oddsmakers have had their eye on this team. The Grizzlies are decent just 2-3 SU and ATS in their last 5 games so I don’t exactly trust them.
LOS ANGELES LAKERS -6.0 over Orlando Magic
I usually take against the Lakers when they’re at home, but that game against the Heat has some people scratching their heads. The Magic are brutal when it comes to covering, and while Howard should present a big issue, this is actually a really attractive number for the Lakers. The Magic can implode at any given moment, and are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games. You can still trust the Lakers on the betting line, especially at home, and I’m not willing to shy away from them in NBA betting picks just because of that loss to Miami.
