Mathias Kiwanuka
Will Blackmon
Boston College have two outstanding defensive players who will both be eligible for the 2006 NFL draft. They are part of what make this team special. Here's a look at the two standouts.
Mathias Kiwanuka
| Position: | DE | Number: | 94 |
| School: | Boston College | Height: | 6'7 |
| Status: | Senior | Weight: | 261 |
- This is a very athletically gifted and impact type of defensive end!
- He is a very disruptive player rushing off the edge, he often dominates whomever is across from him, with his combination of size, speed & burst up field, that makes his upside limitless.
- He is a dominating presence on the defensive side, his athleticness, aggressiveness and passion for the game shows in his play on the field, he has the speed to run down plays from the backside, he is a sideline to sideline type of player that hustles where ever the ball is, and he posses excellent acceleration and closing speed when running down ball carriers and quarterbacks.
- The one area of his game I feel he needs to work on is at the point of attack against run, in his aggressiveness to get to the quarterback he tends to loop outside on pass rushes and leaves his running lane wide open, he needs to become a more well rounded ball player, both against the pass and the run, if he were to stop becoming more predictable with his outside pass rush off the edge, and have more variety in his pass rushing skills, he could become believe it or not more dominating, I also would like to see the bull rush added to his pass rush repertoire, because even though he would be in pass rush mode he would still be covering his rushing lanes duties.
- This player has the potential to be a Top 10 pick in the NFL Draft when he comes out!

- This is a player at the cornerback position that posses good size, body structure, and measurables you look for at the position.
- He looks to have excellent anticipation and instincts both defending the pass or run, and I feel he has even more room to grow even further in both areas, and that is mainly because of the respect I have for his skill level.
- He has a knack for consistently coming up with a big play during some part of every game I see him in, whether that be in the run or pass defense, and when passes are thrown his way he shows tight coverage skills, a quick burst to the ball along with excellent eye-hand read & react skills.
- He also seems to have a very high instinctive IQ on the field, meaning he consistently anticipates plays before they happen, and along with all that said he doubles up as a pretty decent punt return man, and word is he may start participating on the offensive side of the ball at the wide receiver position, then his athletic presence would be felt in every facet of the game, offense, defense and special teams, which would make him a force to deal with.
- I would like to see him become more aggressive in his tackling along with initiating and delivering first contact with opponents, and have his intensity step up a level to match his athletic skill on the field.
