College Basketball Betting Q & A with Handicapper Mike Rose

Selection Sunday is just over a month away, and BetUS Sportsbook poses five burning questions for the week ahead in the NCAA basketball betting world.

1: Tuesday may as well be called Big Ten Tuesday. Who will start to separate themselves from this crowded conference? Illinois, Wisconsin, Purdue, and Michigan State are all in NCAA basketball betting action on Tuesday, and all four are in a tight race that separates first and fifth place by just a game and a half. Michigan State is the sliding team of the bunch, as it lost to both the Badgers and Illini last week. It's going to be hard to separate those two teams on Tuesday, as they play the undercard game, but it's going to be difficult to pick against either home team, as MSU and Wiscy are a combined 26-0 on their home courts this season.

2: Will the Atlantic 10's top teams continue to march towards madness? If you ask most college basketball pundits, the A-10 has six teams that would be in the NCAA Tournament if it started today. Four of those six will be in action on Wednesday night, as Charlotte visits Dayton and Richmond visits Rhode Island. The Fliers may have saved their season by thumping Xavier at home over the weekend, so it's hard to believe that the 49ers will fare any better. The Rams and Spiders both need to pick up a victory in a bad way, so expect to see a great one between those two teams.

3: Can UNLV be a "Pit" of despair for the Lobos? UNLV's season was sparked last weekend with a huge win at home against BYU. The Rebs are the only team this year to beat the Lobos in The Pit, and now New Mexico will look to return the favor in Sin City on Wednesday. UNLV has won 13 of its L/14 games at home against the Lobos, but are only 6-8 ATS in those 14 overall.

4: Will the defending champs fall to the ACC gutter? It sure looks like it could be that way. North Carolina is coming off of a brutal 21-point loss at Maryland over the weekend, and now it has to come home to face the top team in the conference, Duke. After finishing up with their rivals from up Tobacco Road, the Tar Heels host NC State. Even though they already disposed of the Wolfpack once this season, a team that has lost six out of seven (and will probably be seven out of eight by then), nothing is certain.

5: Will G Kalin Lucas be able to come back in the lineup and help the Spartans? HC Tom Izzo has already said that he's not taking any chances with his top scorer and the defending Big Ten Player of the Year. Lucas suffered an ankle injury against Wisconsin, which kept him out of the lineup against the Illini. No one knows whether he'll be able to give it a go or not against the Boilers on Tuesday night, but one thing is for certain. If Lucas can't step it up, someone else had better figure out how to put the ball in the hoop, or Sparty will suffer its first home loss of the season.
