College Hoops: SEC Power Poll

Bookmark and Share by Mike Rose

The SEC teams got a whole heck of a lot more bunched together in college basketball betting terms last week. It's becoming harder and harder to separate them all, but BetUS Sportsbook has all of the answers for you in this week's power poll!

1: Mississippi Rebels (12-6-1 ATS, 17-6 SU) (LW: 1) If there’s one thing for certain in the SEC, it’s that the Rebs are the top college basketball betting team in this conference. They narrowly escaped Lexington with a cover midweek, and pushed against Bama at home on Saturday. Still, at 5-1-1 ATS in its L/7 overall, Ole Miss is a force to be reckoned with. Now they head to Starkville looking to avenge their earlier season loss to the Bulldogs.

On Deck: Away @ Mississippi State

2: Florida Gators (11-7 ATS, 17-6 SU) (LW: 5) If Florida wasn't in the NCAA Tournament before last week, wins against Bama and MSU certainly put it in the field if the dance started today. Saturday's game against Xavier is of utmost importance, because the Gators didn't do enough out of conference to really warrant making the field. If they come up short, they'll have to rely strictly on SEC play to get the job done without a win over the X-Men.

On Deck: Away @ South Carolina, Home vs. Xavier

3: Vanderbilt Commodores (11-9 ATS, 17-5 SU) (LW: 2) Vanderbilt's loss to Georgia has to sting. The Commodores had fought so hard to make sure that they were in great shape for the NCAA Tournament, and they turned around and blew their spot in the Top-25 because of it. Three straight ATS losses are looming over their heads now as the boys from Rocky Top visit Nashville looking to atone from the recent home beating they absorbed.

On Deck: Home vs. Tennessee, Home vs. LSU

4: Mississippi State Bulldogs (10-8 ATS, 16-7 SU) (LW: 3) The Dawgs are in a heck of a lot of trouble after losing to both Florida and Vanderbilt as a visitor this past week. The good news is that the next three are all in Starkville, where they have won ten straight games SU. The bad news is that MSU is only 2-5 ATS in its L/6 games overall. Expect them to be way up for the “Egg Bowl” on the hardwood to kick off the week.

On Deck: Home vs. Mississippi, Home vs. Auburn

5: Georgia Bulldogs (11-9 ATS, 10-11 SU) (LW: 4) UGA has alternated wins and losses against the college basketball betting lines in its L/5 games. That home date with South Carolina should be an entertaining one to say the least. The Bulldogs 78-77 defeat in Columbia just two weeks ago was thrilling to say the least. Another close one should be expected.

On Deck: Away @ Auburn, Home vs. South Carolina

6: Kentucky Wildcats (11-10 ATS, 22-1 SU) (LW: 6) Over their L/10 games, the only real ugly matchup on the slate for the Wildcats was that loss to South Carolina. The Cats were arguably good enough to cover the spread in each of the other nine outings, and they went a solid 6-3 ATS in those games to show for it. Home dates against the Tide and Vols should be a lot of fun to watch.

On Deck: Home vs. Alabama, Home vs. Tennessee

7: Arkansas Razorbacks (8-8 ATS, 12-11 SU) (LW: 9) Pop quiz, hot shot! Who's winning the SEC West right now? That's right! The Hogs have won four straight SU since getting creamed by Kentucky back on January 23rd, and they've gone 3-1 ATS in those four outings. Another win should be in the cards this week against the Bayou Bengals, but that road test at Tuscaloosa should have college basketball betting fans wary even though Arkansas is 3-2 ATS on the road this year.

On Deck: Home vs. LSU, Away @ Alabama

8: Tennessee Volunteers (9-9-1 ATS, 18-4 SU) (LW: 8) HC Bruce Pearl deserves a lot of credit for keeping his Volunteers together this deep into the season. A 26-point win against South Carolina was certainly alarming, but it's been awhile since UT has covered a spread away from Rocky Top (63-56 @ Alabama 1/19). Four of the next five are on the road, and all five squads have a gripe to go dancing, so Tennessee can't afford to take anyone lightly.

On Deck: Away @ Vanderbilt, Away @ Kentucky

And the rest...

9: Alabama Crimson Tide (9-9-1 ATS, 13-10 SU) (LW: 7)
10: Auburn Tigers (7-9-1 ATS, 11-12 SU) (LW: 11)
11: South Carolina Gamecocks (8-11 ATS, 13-9 SU) (LW: 10)
12: LSU Tigers (5-14 ATS, 9-14 SU) (LW: 12)
