The Big East delivers a pair of Top 25 matchups on the Villanova. And, no, that’s not a typo - the Golden Eagles and the Wildcats are tied in the rankings this week.

The Mountaineers had their five-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday after losing to college basketball odds. Da’Sean Butler and Alex Ruoff each scored 13 points for the Mountaineers, as West Virginia had their worst shooting game of the season, hitting only 30 percent.

Marquette posted their sixth win in a row Wednesday night after holding on versus Rutgers in an 81-76 win. The Golden Eagles were an 8.5-point favorite and failed to cover the spread for the first time in five games. Wesley Matthews led the Golden Eagles with 23 points on perfect 10-of-10 shooting and helped Marquette hold on late in the second half after nearly blowing a 21-point lead.

Last season West Virginia crushed Marquette 79-64 as a 3.5-point home favorite. In the only three games between the Mountaineers and the Golden Eagles the home team has won and covered the spread every time.

The Cardinals are coming off an easy win over South Florida on Wednesday. Louisville ripped the Bulls 71-57 and covered the 11-point spread. Earl Clark netted a game-high 22 points to go along with nine rebounds and Edgar Sosa had 12 points in the victory.

Villanova rebounded from a loss to Marquette with an 89-85 win over Seton Hall in overtime on Tuesday. Scottie Reynolds scored a season-high 40 points after hitting 10-of-17 shots from the floor, which included five three-pointers. Dante Cunningham also had a strong game in the win with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Reggie Redding was a defensive standout in the win, as he shut down Seton Hall sharpshooter Jeremy Hazell late in the game.

Last season the Cardinals thumped the Wildcats 68-54 as an 11-point home favorite. That was Villanova’s first-ever loss to Louisville, after taking the first three matchups between the two schools.
