NCAA Basketball week 14 Weekend Games

We are getting closer to selection Sunday and every team in the country is trying to achieve a few signature wins, so when March 14 comes they will have punched their ticket to the big dance. If they can’t impress the selection committee, the NIT awaits and for most major programs, the NIT is black mark on the season. The top programs will be gunning for a number one seed, since 2006 only Florida won the NCAA Men’s basketball tournament without being a number one seed.

On Saturday, the first game of the day features on the bubble Sienna visiting Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis to take on the number 18 ranked Butler Bulldogs. Sienna had won 15 in a row before dropping a game to Niagara putting their March Madness plans in doubt; a win over Butler will go a long way with the NCAA selection committee.

The number one ranked Kansas Jayhawks will host the Colorado Buffaloes; the Jayhawks should cruise to a victory here, as the Buffaloes are only 1-8 on the road. Before taking the Jayhawks, pointspread remember the line will be high for this one and Kansas is only 10-12-1 against the spread.

In a meeting between two top 25 teams, the number two ranked Kentucky Wildcats and their one and done phenom John Wall go to Nashville to take SEC Rival, the number 17 ranked Vanderbilt Commodores who sport a record of 19-5 SU and 11-10 ATS. This is their second meeting of the season with the Wildcats winning and covering the spread 85-72.

At 12:00 Sunday, Villanova hopes to shake off their loss to UCONN as their home state rivals the 19th ranked Pittsburgh Panthers. The Panthers have been kind to bettors with a 12-8-2 record against the spread this season but not as kind as Villanova and their 16-8 ATS record, something has to give this Saturday in this hot Big East matchup.

In the second high noon matchup, number 8 ranked Ohio State will be in East Lansing Michigan to take on the 11th ranked Michigan State Spartans. Both teams have already punched their tickets to the March tournament but both teams will be jockeying for position in hopes of a favorable seed from the tournament selection committee. Before betting on this game remember the Spartans haven’t been kind to bettors as they hold a 10-16 record against the spread this season.

Other games to big games to watch this weekend are UCLA vs. Washington, North Carolina vs. Boston College and UCONN vs. Rutgers. UCLA, North Carolina and UCONN are all in danger of missing the big dance, if all three are overlooked by the selection committee it will mark the first time since 1966 that not one of these college basketball powerhouses have been in the tournament.

Enjoy the weekend.
