SEC Tournament Preview - Bubble Trouble for Several Teams

Bookmark and Share by Mike Rose

As teams jockey for positioning down the stretch, the Southeastern Conference will take center stage of the (25-6, 12-11 ATS) look to tame the field. But with the favorites sitting at +285, BetUS oddsmakers know that this tournament is wide open for any of the teams to shock the world much like the Georgia Bulldogs did a short season ago. The Dawgs entered the tourney from a four-win regular season and won four games in less than four days to earn the automatic bid.

The festivities will kick off on Thursday with those South Carolina Gamecocks (21-8, 10-12-2 ATS) looms. SC is probably in the field of 65 right now, but if too many more bids disappear and they’re not careful, the Gamecocks will be holding their collective breathes come Selection Sunday.

Speaking of teams in bubble trouble, that’s where the #4 (16-14, 16-10 ATS) could go a long way towards putting them on the right side of the bubble. In all likelihood though, Kentucky will have to beat both Ole Miss and the favored Tigers to go dancing. Anything less and their bubble will almost certainly burst.

The 4th seed in the West, the (19-11, 12-15-1 ATS) squad awaits the winner. The Vols are almost certainly in the NCAA Tournament right now thanks to a great set of computer numbers, but with a very favorable draw, could be a force to consider at 4-1 to win the SEC crown.

In the final first round match-up, another team that badly needs at least one more win to go dancing is in action, as the (21-10, 19-5 ATS). The Tigers have won eight out of nine games and have covered eight straight, which could put a lot of value in the fact that they are 7-1 to win the SEC.
