Guard play is going to be the name of the game, as the UNLV Rebels. Aaron Brooks leads the charge for the third-seeded Ducks with 17.6 points. With the Ducks’ lights out offense, the Kruger family connection will need to be on point again in St. Louis on Friday.
The Ducks aredangerous on the perimeter. Outside of Brooks, Tajuan Porter showed everyone that his diminutive 5-foot-6 stature was not going to stop him from making big plays. His shooting has been deadly from long range, and the consistent scoring the Ducks get from all their regulars will be tough for UNLV to keep up with.
But, if any team can keep up with the Ducks insane guard play, it is the deep rotation of UNLV. The Rebels love to run the floor and thrive in an up-tempo environment. Their problem is going to be in the paint, where they do not have any significant force to be reckoned with.
With Oregon sporting a stronger front-court, and more reliable starters, bet on the Ducks to win this game in a shootout. The Ducks perimeter defense is superior and could frustrate the UNLV by not giving them the quality shots that Wisconsin gave them. Aaron Brooks is just too dominant a force, and the Rebels do not have a real answer for him.
