College Basketball Betting – PAC-10 Power Poll
by Mike Rose
Once again, the Huskies hover atop the BetUS Sportsbook from a week ago.
1: Washington Huskies (17-10 ATS, 22-7 SU) (9-7-1 ATS, 13-4 SU in Pac-10) (LW: 1) The Huskies wrapped up at least a share of the regular season Pac-10 title with wins over both Arizona and Arizona State last week. They didn’t cover the spread in either game, but there’s no running down U-Dub at this point. Washington looks to be the best shot for a West Coast team to cut down the nets.
This Week: Home vs. Seattle, Home vs. Washington State
2: Arizona State Sun Devils (15-9 ATS, 21-7 SU) (10-6 ATS, 10-6 SU in Pac-10) (LW: 2) The Sun Devils played a heck of a lot of basketball last week. They went on the road to the Apple State and lost two OT games. The pair of losses ended a five-game winning streak which saw them go 4-1 against the NCAAB sports betting line. Many think that ASU is one of the better teams out west, but it’ll feel a lot better if it can procure the #2 seed in the upcoming Pac-10 tourney.
This Week: Home vs. Stanford, Home vs. California
3: Arizona Wildcats (17-11 ATS, 18-11 SU) (10-6 ATS, 8-8 SU in Pac-10) (LW: 4) Arizona may have split its basketball betting proceedings last week, but boy, did two losses in the great state of Washington sends it a lot closer to the NIT. The Cats have dropped three straight games SU, but are a smoking hot 8-2 ATS in their L/10. Both games this weekend are absolute must-haves unless they plan on making a very deep run into the Pac-10 tourney next week.
This Week: Home vs. California, Home vs. Stanford
4: Stanford Cardinal (15-9-1 ATS, 16-11 SU) (8-7-1 ATS, 5-11 SU in Pac-10) (LW: 5) A wicked streak of games that saw the Cardinal go 1-5 SU and 0-4-1 ATS finally came to a close on Saturday at home against the Trojans. The bad news for Stanford bettors is that the majority of its damage came at home this year (10-4-1). The final two games of the season are on the road, where it’s just 5-5 ATS.
This Week: Away @ Arizona State, Away @ Arizona
5: California Golden Bears (15-11 ATS, 21-8 SU) (8-8 ATS, 10-6 SU in Pac-10) (LW: 3) The Golden Bears had a tremendous chance to wrap up a spot on the dance floor at home against UCLA on Saturday, but came up narrowly short of that critical victory. Still, at 21 wins, ten of which are in conference, it’s hard to picture them being left out barring a total collapse. A win in Arizona on Thursday should do double damage, as it will probably knock the Wildcats out and put Cal in.
This Week: Away @ Arizona, Away @ Arizona State
6: Oregon State Beavers (11-11 ATS, 13-14 SU) (8-8 ATS, 7-9 SU in Pac-10) (LW: 6) The Beavers started a season-ending three-game road stretch by losing the Civil War in Eugene. The loss snapped a three game winning streak both SU and ATS. Even if OSU ends up losing its final two games of the regular season and is a first round casualty in the Pac-10 Tournament, the season has to be considered a success after a disastrous ’07-’08 campaign.
This Week: Away @ UCLA, Away @ USC
7: UCLA Bruins (13-14-1 ATS, 22-7 SU) (7-8-1 ATS, 11-5 SU in Pac-10) (LW: 7) Much better UCLA! After a couple tense weeks, victories in No-Cal over the Bears and Cardinal were a welcome sight. The Bruins should easily take down the #2 seed in the Pac-10 Tournament, and could catch the Huskies if they trip against Wazzou. There’s no reason to lose either game this week.
This Week: Home vs. Oregon State, Home vs. Oregon
8: USC Trojans (12-14 ATS, 16-12 SU) (7-9 ATS, 7-9 SU in Pac-10) (LW: 8) After weeks of just barely hanging on to their bubble hopes, the Trojans were likely finished with losses to Cal and Stanford last week. They can at least get back into consideration with wins over the Ducks and Beavers this week, but in all reality, winning the Pac-10 Tournament may be the Trojans only way into the field of 65.
This Week: Home vs. Oregon, Home vs. Oregon State
9: Washington State Cougars (10-16 ATS, 16-13 SU) (7-10 ATS, 8-9 SU in Pac-10) (LW: 9) Truth be told, Washington State may have at least a fighting chance of making the NCAA Tournament, but there’s a ton of work to be done. With wins at UCLA and Arizona State already on their resume, the Cougs can make a really good case with a win in Washington and a couple ‘W’s in the Pac-10 tourney. Don’t count out the #1 defense in the nation?
This Week: Away @ Washington
10: Oregon Ducks (9-18 ATS, 8-20 SU) (5-11 ATS, 2-14 SU in Pac-10) (LW: 10) The Ducks are on a season-high two-game winning streak after beating their rivals from Oregon State. The fun and games are likely over, as trips to USC and UCLA are near impossible tasks since the only team to lose to the Ducks when on the road this season was UC-Irvine (1-9 SU).
This Week: Away @ USC, Away @ UCLA
