College Basketball Betting – SEC Power Poll
by Mike Rose
BetUS Sportsbook last week.
1: Auburn Tigers (17-5 ATS, 19-10 SU) (10-4 ATS, 8-6 SU in SEC) (LW: 1) Nineteen wins isn’t nearly impressive enough for an Auburn team to make the NCAA Tournament, but if the sports betting results made up the field of 65, it would easily be a #1 seed! The Tigers have been red hot of late, going 6-1 SU and 7-0 ATS in their L/7, and are marching towards the #2 seed in the SEC West.
This Week: Away @ Alabama, Home vs. LSU
2: Alabama last week. Still, it’s hard to argue with a squad that is 8-4 ATS at home and 6-3 ATS on the road for the season. Keep an eye on the Rebels in the SEC Tournament as a dark horse.
This Week: Away @ Arkansas, Home vs. Mississippi State
3: LSU Tigers (12-9 ATS, 25-4 SU) (9-5 ATS, 13-1 SU in SEC) (LW: 6) LSU is now a perfect 10-0 in its L/10 games, and has started covering spreads to boot. With the top seed in the SEC Tournament assured and the ultimate prize of a spot on the dance floor in a few weeks a virtual lock, the Tigers have their eyes set on an SEC title that seemed awfully unlikely at the outset of the season. They just seem to be mowing through bubble teams left and right, but this week the tests should be easier with a pair of lesser foes on deck.
This Week: Home vs. Vanderbilt, Away @ Auburn
4: Mississippi State Bulldogs (12-10-1 ATS, 17-12 SU) (8-6 ATS, 7-7 SU in SEC) (LW: 5) The Bulldogs seem on a course headed straight for the NIT. They’ve now lost three straight games, including a bad 76-58 defeat at home to Auburn last week. In a lousy stretch of games that has resulted in just one win out of six, they’re just 2-4 ATS. The home slate ends with a visit from the bubble-dwelling Gators, where an 8-4 ATS mark will be on the line.
This Week: Home vs. Florida, Away @ Mississippi
5: Arkansas Razorbacks (11-9 ATS, 14-13 SU) (6-8 ATS, 2-12 SU in SEC) (LW: 4) An eight-game losing streak finally came to a close for the Razorbacks with an 89-67 win over Georgia on Sunday. Truth be told, even the NIT is a stretch for Arkansas, but with everyone in the SEC remembering what Georgia accomplished last season, catching fire at the right time is important.
This Week: Home vs. Mississippi, Away @ Vanderbilt
6: Tennessee (twice), but a loss in Gainesville and a first round exit in Tampa in the SEC Tourney could leave too many holes in the resume for a ticket to the dance.
This Week: Home vs. Georgia, Away @ Florida
7: Alabama Crimson Tide (11-11-1 ATS, 16-12 SU) (6-7-1 ATS, 6-8 SU in SEC) (LW: 9) The Tide have done a great job of playing the role of spoiler of late for the other bubble squads in the SEC to the point where they could conceivably be a part of a huge bubble themselves. A pair of wins to close out the regular season would make 18, heading into the SEC Tournament. A few wins against some fellow bubble-dwellers may be just enough in a wide open conference. Alabama has gone 4-0-1 ATS since February 8th.
This Week: Home vs. Auburn, Away @ Tennessee
8: South Carolina Gamecocks (9-11-2 ATS, 20-7 SU) (6-6-2 ATS, 9-5 SU in SEC) (LW: 7) It’s not often this late in the season that the leader of a division still has bubble problems, but a 96-83 loss to Vanderbilt has done just that to the Gamecocks. A win in Georgia in the regular season finale might be enough to pack their dancing shoes, but SC will feel a lot better with one other victory before Selection Sunday.
This Week: Home vs. Tennessee, Away @ Georgia
And the rest…
9: Tennessee Volunteers (11-14-1 ATS, 18-10 SU) (6-8 ATS, 8-6 SU in SEC) (LW: 8)
10: Vanderbilt Commodores (10-14-1 ATS, 17-11 SU) (4-9-1 ATS, 6-8 SU in SEC) (LW: 11)
11: Florida Gators (8-13-1 ATS, 21-8 SU) (6-7-1 ATS, 8-6 SU in SEC) (LW: 10)
12: Georgia Bulldogs (8-13-2 ATS, 11-18 SU) (4-9-1 ATS, 2-12 SU in SEC) (LW: 12)
