College Basketball Betting - Worst First Half Teams

For every team that has had a field day against the college basketball spreads, there has to be a team that has struggled mightily against them. BetUS Sportsbook takes a look at which teams have cost their bettors the most coin so far in '09-'10...

Iowa Hawkeyes (3-13 ATS) There really may be no hope for the Hawkeyes this year. It looks like they're outmatched every single night in the Big Ten. In four conference games this year, they've been underdogs of 14.5 points, ten points, 14.5 points, and 14 points, and they only went 1-3 ATS in those outings. By the way, three of those four were at home. Ouch. For a team only averaging 62.8 points per game (after playing a non-conference schedule loaded with cupcakes), horrifying news is going to be on the horizon when it needs to leave Iowa City.

Washington Huskies (2-12 ATS) Remember when the Pac-10 was a good conference? What happened? The Huskies enter Thursday night at just 1-3 SU and 0-4 ATS in Pac-10 play, but it's not like this conference is full of juggernauts. Joe Lunardi (ESPN.com) currently has just one Pac-10 team making the Field of 65 in his bracket. Inevitably, things are going to have to get a little bit better for U-Dub against the college basketball spreads, as the numbers in a bad conference are bound to level out, but it's hard to lay coin on a team that is ten games under .500 ATS this early in the year.

Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks (1-10 ATS) The argument could be made that the Skyhawks have one of the worst teams in college basketball, and because of that, it's incredibly difficult to find many reasons to want to bet on them. Their only SU wins this year came against Westminster and Harris-Stowe State, neither of which is even Division 1. UTM hasn't covered a college basketball spread since November 17th, going 0-9 since. The Skyhawks are being outscored by two touchdowns every game. Teams in the OVC are loving these off nights that they can have when Tennessee-Martin turns up on the slate.

Elon Phoenix (3-10 ATS) Southern Conference play has already started to kill the Phoenix. They're just 3-13 SU and are 0-3 both SU and ATS in conference so far this year. Offense is a major problem for Elon, as it ranks just 292nd in the land, averaging just 62.9 points per game. It's hard to say that things are going to look up any for this team either. The best teams in the SoCon haven't even turned up on the docket yet.

Creighton Bluejays (4-10 ATS) Blame the names on the fronts of the jerseys for the Bluejays' ATS struggles. Everyone still thinks of this team as the Cinderella that has made a mess out of several NCAA Tournament brackets in years past, and truth be told, this team isn't nearly as good now as it was then. Yet still, Creighton was laying 13 points at home against Drake and was a home favorite against Northern Iowa. No wonder why this team is just 1-5 ATS in MVC play.
