Stephen Curry is one of the best players in the country, and obviously Davidson is lucky to have him. The junior, who was already the top scoring threat on this team, also took over at point guard this season. He has averaged 5.9 assists per game and dominates almost every contest he is in. On February 14 Curry injured his ankle against Furman, ruining what could have been a 40-point game. He missed the next contest, in which his team lost by 18 points to The Citadel, and when he returned against Butler he was a shell, hitting just six of 23 shots.
He has gotten back into the swing of things. Curry had 34 points on Saturday, in the process becoming Davidson's all-time leading scorer, and led a 99-56 win over Davidson wrapped up the #1 seed for the Southern Conference tournament which begins on Thursday. Even if they do not win the tourney, it is quite possible that Davidson, which has been nationally ranked this year, will capture an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament.
Back on January 14, Curry emaciated Elon's defense, scoring 39 points, and was extra deadly from beyond the arc, making six of his ten shots. However, his teammates hit just 43% and there was no one else with more than ten points. Consequently, Elon got the cover. The strategy might be for the Phoenix to let Curry get his points, as long as they can prevent him making plays with the others. It was difficult for the 'Cats to stop forward Ola Atoyebi, who had 27 points, his season high.
In a small recommendation, we're going to count on the Phoenix to be feisty, and take the points with Elon, the 14-point underdog in the BetUS NCAA college basketball online betting odds.
