NCAA BASKETBALL BETTING – Ivy League Power Poll
1: Princeton Tigers (9-3 ATS, 9-10 SU) (4-2 ATS, 4-2 SU in Ivy League) (LW: 1) Princeton had its first two setbacks of 2009 last week when it struggled against both Yale and Brown. Still, the #7 defense in the land has held teams to an average of 53.9 points per game since the start of ’09. A 4-1 ATS home record is on the line this week.
This Week: Home vs. Penn, Home vs. Harvard, Home vs. Dartmouth
2: Columbia Lions (8-4 ATS, 10-12 SU) (5-3 ATS, 5-3 SU in Ivy League) (LW: 2) Columbia picked up a pair of victories last week to keep its name in contention for the Ivy League crown. Things are gonna get more difficult these next four games, which are all on the road. The good news is that the Lions are 2-1 ATS on the road this conference season. The bad news is that they’ve lost seven of their L/8 away from home SU.
This Week: Away @ Brown, Away @ Yale
3: Cornell Big Red (10-7 ATS, 17-7 SU) (5-3 ATS, 7-1 SU in Ivy League) (LW: 3) Cornell has picked up three straight wins in conference and know that six more wins will send it dancing. Much like Columbia, the next four are away from home though, and that could be bad news for a team that is only .500 ATS on the road this season.
This Week: Away @ Yale, Away @ Brown
4: Dartmouth Big Green (7-5 ATS, 6-16 SU) (5-2 ATS, 4-4 SU in Ivy League) (LW: 4) It’s not often that a 20-point underdog finds itself in overtime against the best team in the conference, but that’s where the Big Green found themselves last week in Cornell. Unfortunately for Dartmouth, it wasn’t quite good enough to beat the Big Red in the extra frame, but the rest of the conference is on notice: Dartmouth can spoil the party.
This Week: Away @ Penn, Away @ Princeton
5: Yale Bulldogs (6-5 ATS, 9-13 SU) (3-4 ATS, 5-3 SU in Ivy League) (LW: 5) Yale has alternated wins and losses in its L/5 games after splitting with Princeton and Penn last week. That’s bad news for the Big Red! The Bulldogs absolutely must beat Cornell on Friday night to stay in the Ivy League hunt. They’ve already gotten beaten by 29 by Cornel already upended them by 29 in their first meeting.
This Week: Home vs. Cornell, Home vs. Columbia
6: Penn Quakers (5-9 ATS, 7-13 SU) (3-3 ATS, 3-3 SU in Ivy League) (LW: 6) The Quakers hit the road last week and came away with a pair of upsets over Yale and Brown. The upcoming week’s a heavy one for Penn with three games on the slate. Two of those are at home, which could be bad news for a squad that is 0-6 ATS in front of the hometown faithful this year.
This Week: Away @ Princeton, Home vs. Dartmouth, Home vs. Harvard
7: Brown Bears (4-10 ATS, 7-15 SU) (3-5 ATS, 1-7 SU in Ivy League) (LW: 7) The Bears finally got in the win column in conference play this year with a 61-43 win over Princeton last Saturday. The ‘W’ also snapped a 2-6 ATS skid in their L/8. Offense has been a struggle in Brown games of late, as five straight have played under the closing ‘total’.
This Week: Home vs. Columbia, Home vs. Cornell
8: online betting Power Poll having simply been awful this year. A 60-59 loss to Columbia at least salvaged an ATS victory, Harvard’s first since January 7th (0-7 ATS). It’s hard to find anything good about its season, but Harvard is at least 2-2 both ATS and SU in its L/4 road games.
This Week: Away @ Princeton, Away @ P
