There is revenge in the air, as Pittsburgh won a hotly-contested one-point decision at the Petersen Center a little less than a month ago. But the Panthers have now won five in a row in this series, including meetings at Morgantown in 2006 and 2007. Bob Huggins will have his team ready, especially as his team's NCAA tournament hopes are fading. But can WVU get the cover?
For Pittsburgh, Levance Fields has not gotten his shooting eye back yet, going only 13-for-48 from the field (27%) since coming back from injury. But the guard was a clutch performer from the free throw line against the Orange, hitting a perfect eight-for-eight, and chipped in with five assists, so there is reason for encouragement.
We must say we're not all that impressed with West Virginia's output lately; the only Big East wins the Mountaineers have managed to score since an upset of Marquette on January 6 have been against a Syracuse team that was struggling, and those on the lower rung of the Big East.
