Pac 10 Power Poll - Who's Best Against the Spread?
by Mike Rose

1: Stanford Cardinal (12-4 ATS, 13-4 SU) (5-2 ATS, 3-4 SU in Pac-10) (LW: 1) What the heck happened to the Cardinal this week? Oregon State marched into Stanford and walked out with a 77-62 victory as 16.5-point underdogs. After five straight covers, the loss was absolutely shocking. However, They still have a near spotless 4-1 ATS record on the road they’ll put on the line this week in Cali.
This Week: Away @ USC, Away @ UCLA
2: Washington Huskies (11-6 ATS, 15-4 SU) (4-3 ATS, 6-1 SU in Pac-10) (LW: 3) U-Dub protected its home court with wins over both USC and UCLA last week. The 86-75 win over the Bruins was incredibly impressive, and marked the start of a huge stretch of five games for the Huskies. The next four are all on the road, where they are a perfect 3-0 SU and ATS in Pac-10 play this year.
This Week: Away @ Arizona, Away @ Arizona State
3: Arizona State Sun Devils (10-5 ATS, 16-3 SU) (5-2 ATS, 5-2 SU in Pac-10) (LW: 4) The Sun Devils defense stepped up in a big way for sports betting aficionados last week in a 53-47 victory at Arizona. They return home for a pair of games this week, where they are a perfect 9-0 SU and 4-1 ATS this season.
This Week: Home vs. Washington State, Home vs. Washington
4: California Golden Bears (11-6 ATS, 16-4 SU) (4-3 ATS, 5-2 SU in Pac-10) (LW: 2) Cal bettors had a rough week courtesy of the state of Oregon. After getting upset by the Beavers as 17.5-point favorites, they only beat the Ducks by four. That’s three straight very questionable games by a talented Golden Bears squad. Is it a sign of things to come against the LA contingent?
This Week: Away @ UCLA, Away @ USC
5: Basketball betting fans of the Wildcats had to be scratching their heads all week. After losing a 53-47 decision to Arizona State, Houston came to town and gave Zona all it could handle. It got lucky to cover the 5.5-point spread with a 96-90 OT win. The Wildcats will hope for better in the final two games of this four-game home stand.
This Week: Home vs. Washington, Home vs. Washington State
6: USC Trojans (9-8 ATS, 13-6 SU) (4-3 ATS, 4-3 SU in Pac-10) (LW: 7) The Trojans came up narrowly short of beating Washington, which would have been a huge boost for their tournament resume. For now though, USC bettors won’t mind, as it picked up a pair of covers in the state of Washington. It is only 1-2 ATS at home in Pac-10 play.
This Week: Home vs. Stanford, Home vs. California
7: Oregon State Beavers (7-7 ATS, 9-10 SU) (4-4 ATS, 3-5 SU in Pac-10) (LW: 8) Whatever got into the Beavers pre-game meals last week is encouraging for their basketball bettors considering they picked up a pair of surprising conference road victories against Cal and Stanford as 16.5 and 17.5-point underdogs. It was the programs first Pac-10 road win since January 2007.
This Week: Home vs. Oregon
8: UCLA Bruins (8-10 ATS, 15-4 SU) (3-4 ATS, 5-2 SU in Pac-10) (LW: 6) Bruins bettors have struggled of late. Not only have they dropped three straight NCAA basketball betting decisions, but they have lost two out of their L/3 games. A four-game home stand opens up at Pauley Pavilion on Thursday with a critical stretch if UCLA has aspirations of wrapping up another top seed come March.
This Week: Home vs. California, Home vs. Stanford
9: Washington State Cougars (5-11 ATS, 11-8 SU) (2-6 ATS, 3-5 SU in Pac-10) (LW: 9) Washington State nearly pulled off the upsets of both USC and UCLA last week, but came up short with two-point losses in each game. Even though they’re just 2-6 ATS their L/8 games, don’t sell the Cougs short in this four-game road trip. They have won three of their L/4 on the road and still have the #1 defense in America.
This Week: Away @ Arizona State, Away @ Arizona
10: Oregon Ducks (6-14 ATS, 6-13 SU) (2-6 ATS, 0-8 SU in Pac-10) (LW: 10) Two more Pac-10 games, two more defeats for the Ducks, who are still the only team without a win in conference play this year. The good news is that the five-game ATS skid is over, but the news will get far worse if they lose the Civil War this week.
This Week: Away @ Oregon State
