2017 March Mayhem Bracket - Liam Banks

Just because President Trump isn't filling out a bracket, doesn't mean we all have to miss out. Check out my bracket for this year's NCAA Tournament and look below for a preview of what to expect throughout March Madness.

West:

Predicted Winner:       GONZAGA (1)

Can the Bulldogs finally make it to the Final Four? I'm predicting that this will be the year the Zags get there and take it all. Head Coach Mark Few is one of elite coaches in the entire NCAAB and he's assembled a rag-tag motley crew squad comprised of freshmen, transfers and key bench players. The biggest question for the Zags will be the performance of centre Przemek Kanowski who is returning from a devastating back injury. If he plays like he can, there's almost no one who can compete with the 7"1 giant. Also keep an eye on PG Nigel Williams-Goss.

Cinderella Pick:           XAVIER (11)

East:

Predicted Winner:       DUKE (2)

Coach K is the best coach in this tournament. Period. End of story. But he won't be on the court and there are questions surrounding this squad, even coming off an extremely impressive ACC Tournament where the Blue Devils set an NCAA record with four victories in four days. That may have answered some questions about this team's tenacity and endurance, but can you really bring home this grueling tournament while running with a rotation of just seven players? There are serious questions surrounding this team's depth.

Cinderella Pick:           NEW MEXICO ST (14)

Midwest:

Predicted Winner:       MICHIGAN (7)

Listen, I know this looks like a crazy pick, but I'm riding with a team getting hot at exactly the right time (and I really do not have faith in #1 Kansas). Michigan is coming off of a legendary win against Wisconsin to take home their first Big Ten Championship. This team feels like a team of destiny (their plane skidding off the runway when flying out of Michigan). Watch out. This could be our Cinderella story.

Cinderella Pick:           MICHIGAN ST (9)

South:

Predicted Winner:       NORTH CAROLINA (1)

To be honest, I'm a little concerned about the Tar Heels. They've looked great all season, but there have been some shaky stretches in there. North Carolina's defence fell apart against Duke in the ACC final, giving up a stunning 93 points. The Tar Hells benefit from a weaker division, as I'm not putting much stock in UCLA or Kentucky. Expect NC to squeak through.

Cinderella Pick:           WINTHROP (13)
