Big 12 Tournament Predictions – Nebraska vs. #23 Texas A&M

Bookmark and Share by Tim Furious

The Aggies have slowly, but surely, been building themselves in to a respectable and reliable basketball bet over the past few years. Too bad for them that all of their regular season success is overshadowed by their inability to come through in tournament style play. Getting a matchup against Nebraska, the worst team in the Big 12, should be a layup but Texas A&M knows all too well that the ghosts of failures past will be in the gym with them tonight.

At 11-5 SU in the conference, the Aggies are deservedly getting some attention from the sports betting public. However, one of the most important NCAAB betting trends to remember is that A&M is a paltry 3-13 SU in the Big 12 Tournament, a record that has been piled on for the last thirteen years.

Yet bad streaks and good streaks are intersecting at the crossroads of College Station. It’s easy to say that a team has been crap in a tournament over the years, but we’re talking about the here and now. If you’re scared of the underwhelming track record of Texas A&M when it matters, let’s also keep in mind that they’re a steady 10-0 ATS in their past 10 games overall.

The betting public has fallen in love with the Aggies, but the pollsters who determine the AP Top-25 have barely given them a fair look. Dwindling at the bottom of the premier, national rankings has to be a slap in the face against Texas A&M but it has much more to do with historical stumblings than it does with this season.

Thursday, March 11th --- Sprint Center --- 3:00pm EST
: Texas A&M -8 (124)

Nebraska sits at the bottom of the Big 12 standings, and a 2-14 SU record hasn’t been offset by any, true success against the college basketball odds. The Cornhuskers are just 2-4 ATS in their past 6 games and have zero marquee wins on their regular season schedule. This is a team that has two massive losing streaks to be ashamed of, losing five and seven in a row at times this season.

And if history proves us anything, it’s that the Aggies are the team to take tonight. They’re 4-1 SU/ATS when playing Nebraska and though both teams have been horrible in Big 12 Tournament play, the Aggies have taken all the right steps in the proper directions to make their sordid history a thing of the past. Nebraska should probably take some notes as they exit the tournament tonight courtesy of the Aggies.

Furious Free Pick: Texas A&M -8 (UNDER)
