College Basketball Betting – Georgetown vs. West Virginia
by Tim Furious

With the conference tournaments opening the flood gates quickly down the road, the Big East Conference is shaping up to have perhaps the most intriguing array of teams. Amongst them stand West Virginia and Georgetown, both of whom are too far back from Syracuse and Villanova to catch them in the standings. However, Georgetown is one marquee team in desperate need of momentum. The Mountaineers just hope that they can maintain theirs.
Coming off a weekend mired by a glaring loss to Notre Dame, the Hoyas have fallen to just 2-3 ATS in their past 5 games losing to Syracuse, Rutgers and now the Fighting Irish. When you’re as highly touted as Georgetown, you can still justify a loss to the conference leading team, but coming up with excuses for losing to two unranked opponents will probably take a bit more time.
One excuse that you’ll undoubtedly hear is the illness of leading scorer Austin Freeman, who has been battling the flu for the last week or so. With a team leading 17.0 points per game, Freeman needs to shake off the bug and get back to the floor. In the 78-64 upset by Notre Dame, Freeman played in just 23 minutes and scored only 5-points.
Georgetown needs all the help it can get. The head-to-head record against West Virginia has seen Georgetown go 3-2 SU/ATS in their past 5 meetings.
#19 Georgetown Hoyas (19-8) vs. #10 West Virginia Mountaineers (22-6)

The Mountaineers have had their fare share of ups and downs this season as well, but as of lately they’ve been coming on very strong. Despite a loss to UConn, the Mountaineers are still 3-2 SU and their porous betting record has made them a sidenote for many betting enthusiasts. At just 2-3 ATS in the past five games, including failing to cover a 12.5 point line against Cincinnati, has people keeping their distance from West Virginia.
Yet tonight is a different story. The Hoyas are in rough shape and with a loss to Notre Dame still lingering, and Austin Freeman ailing, the lynchpin for Georgetown’s scoring attack is missing. Even with a somewhat hefty line tonight, the Mountaineers will do right as they send Georgetown plummeting further in to their own grave as we ramp up for the Big East tournament.
