College Basketball Betting Picks – Georgia Tech Looks To Upset Duke in Title Tilt

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Duke Blue Devils have each won three consecutive games to reach today’s ACC Championship game which gets underway at Greensboro Coliseum today at 1 PM ET.

Sunday, March 14, 1:00 PM ET
NBA Betting Odds: Duke -9
(O/U) 137
TV: ESPN

Georgia Tech (22-11 SU, 15-11-1 ATS, 10-9 Conf.)
Duke (28-5 SU, 18-12-2 ATS, 15-3 Conf.)

A loss for Duke could cost the Blue Devils a No. 1 seed in the upcoming national championship tournament while a loss for the Yellow Jackets could give them an unfavorable seeding in the tournament.

Here is a look at the key head-to-head trends surrounding today’s ACC title tilt.

Under is 10-1 in the last 11 meetings.
Favorite is 16-5 ATS in the last 21 meetings.
Yellow Jackets are 6-16 ATS in the last 22 meetings.

Georgia Tech 411
Yellow Jackets are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 neutral site games.
Yellow Jackets are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 neutral site games as an underdog.
Yellow Jackets are 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 games as an underdog.

Georgia Tech got a team-high 17 points from derrick Favors as they squeaked past North Carolina State 57-54 in their ACC semifinal showdown on Saturday but failed to cover the NCAA basketball betting odds as a 4-point underdog to snap a two-game ATS winning streak

Duke 411
Blue Devils are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games following an ATS loss.
Blue Devils are 1-4-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. win.
Blue Devils are 0-3-2 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning percentage above .600.

Duke managed to beat the Miami Hurricanes 77-74 in their ACC semifinal matchup at Greensboro Coliseum on Saturday but never came close to covering the college basketball betting odds as an 11.5-point favorite just as I predicted in the NCAAB locker room on Saturday. Sweet-shooting forward Kyle Singler scored a team-high 27 points in the win.

Analysis: Maybe it’s me, but I just don’t understand why Duke keeps being favored by an unreasonable amount of points over teams that have played them nearly dead-even this season and are quite more athletic, (if not quite as smart) than the Blue Devils.

Case in point is this matchup.

These two ACC rivals spilt their regular season matchup with each team winning on its home floor. Tech took down Duke 71-67 on Jan. 9 as 7-point underdogs while the Dookies extracted some revenge on Feb. 4, beating Georgia Tech 86-67 to cover the 13-point college basketball betting spread.

I think this pick is a lot like Saturday’s Duke game, where they were favored by 11 points over a far superior Miami team that struggled against during the regular season.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are not only capable of covering the spread in this game – they could actually win outright.

While I’m not going that far out on a limb, I am picking the Yellow Jackets to cover the spread and push Duke to the very brink for the outright win in what promises to be another college basketball fantastic finish.

The Blue Devils have gone an unimpressive 1-4-2 ATS in their last seven games following an SU win while struggling to cash in against good teams by going a bankroll-busting 0-3-2 ATS in their last five games versus a team with a winning percentage above .600.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have gone an encouraging 4-1 ATS in their last five neutral site games and an identical 4-1 ATS in their last five neutral site games as an underdog.

Cementing my pick for this contest is the fact that the Yellow Jackets have gone a consistent 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 games as an underdog.

In addition to playing the Yellow Jackets to cover the spread, college basketball betting enthusiasts should know the Under has gone an incendiary 10-1 in the last 11 meetings between these conference rivals.
