College basketball picks: Fresno State Bulldogs vs. Louisiana Tech Bulldogs

Bookmark and Share by Mike Rose

BetUS Sportsbook has another set of college basketball picks in conference tournament action on Thursday, and we'll take our shots at the WAC Tournament clash between the Fresno State Bulldogs and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.

Fresno State is the fifth ranked team in the WAC, but it clearly isn't quite on the same level of a La Tech team which finished 7.5-games better than it did in the aggregate standings and two games in front of it in WAC play.

Louisiana Tech was considered a potential bubble team once upon a time, but an early exit from the WAC Tournament may even knock it out of the NIT.

In order to make your college basketball picks, La Tech has been lined as a 4.5-point favorite, while the 'total' chimes in at 132.

Fresno State Bulldogs (15-17, 14-13 ATS) vs. Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (22-9, 13-12-1 ATS)

College Basketball Odds:

Fresno State Bulldogs +4.5
Louisiana Tech Bulldogs -4.5
Game Total 132

Fresno's Bulldogs have had some offensive performances that just cause you to cringe in conference play. Utah State held FSU to 39, while San Jose State was one of three other WAC opponents that held it under 50 points.

Leading scorers F Paul George and F Sylvester Seay need to play well to keep the Bulldogs alive in the WAC Tournament. If they can come anywhere near their combined 30.9 points per game average, they'll be a great option for college basketball picks on Thursday.

Fresno State has had a huge problem trying to defend the three-pointer this season. The Dawgs are allowing opposing teams to connect on 37.1 percent of their shots.

The good news for FSU in this one is that Louisiana Tech isn't a proficient three-point shooting team in its own right (34.4%).

The top three-point shooting man for this team is G Kyle Gibson, who is also the squad's leading scorer at 20.0 points per game. Unfortunately though, he has been out of the lineup for the L/4 games with a banged up ankle, and he is listed as questionable for this first round WAC Tournament contest.

The good news for the Bulldogs is that there are four other players averaging double digits in scoring, but since Gibson has been out of the lineup, the team is just 1-3 SU and ATS, with the one win coming against a lowly Idaho team at home.

Louisiana Tech hasn't scored more than 60 points in a game since February 4th.

College Basketball Insider Betting Tip: Thursday has historically been an awful day for the Bulldogs. They're 18-42 ATS in their L/60 games played on Thursday.

That may not have any real bearing on Thursday's WAC betting battle, but the fact that Fresno took La Tech out 66-59 just seven days ago might.

Something is definitely wrong with the Techsters right now, and they'll end up crashing out of this tournament in a very disappointing fashion, especially if their leading scorer can't go.

Go with Fresno for your college basketball picks in this Bulldog battle.
