The Washington State Cougars (23-5). UCLA owns Washington State in the Pac-10, with a 9-1 SU record against the Cougars in hand. Their last game, on December 28th, resulted in a 55-52 victory for the Bruins.
Since a surprising loss to West Virginia, the Bruins have been on a tear through the west coast, winning their past four games. The second-ranked Bruins are steadied by Arron Afflalo’s 17.5 ppg, which contributes heavily to the team’s 74.1 points per game.
The Cougars have been a pleasant surprise this year, currently sitting at second place in the Pac-10 standings. A win over the Bruins would certainly volley them up from #13, but that is quite a task. Derrick Lowe and Kyle Weaver form the backcourt for the Cougars, and average 13.9 and 11.1 points, respectively.
Washington State will need a big team effort in order to keep up with the Bruins. Though the Bruins will walk away with the win, those betting on sports should know they are only 5-5 ATS on the road this year.
Expect the Cougars to play well at home, and claw at the second-ranked Bruins. But UCLA is too strong of a team for them to beat, and the Bruins should solidify their Pac-10 lead with a win in Pullman on Thursday night.
