BetUS NCAA college basketball betting odds: Virginia -13
The Virginia Cavaliers (15-15 SU, 13-12 ATS) in a first-round game in the brand-new College Basketball Invitational (CBI). Tipoff time is 7 PM ET at the John Paul Jones Arena.
In the BetUS NCAA college basketball betting odds, Virginia is listed as a 13-point favorite.
Here are some of the NCAA basketball betting trends as they relate to this matchup:
* RICH has covered two of its last six games
* RICH has lost four of its last six games SU
* RICH is 10-4-1 ATS in its last 15 road games
* RICH has lost 18 of its last 25 road games SU
* VA has covered six of its last eight games
* VA has lost 13 of its last 18 games SU
* VA has lost four of its last six home games SU
* VA has played four of its last five home games UNDER the total
This is an intriguing regional matchup, a product of the economics of the CBI tournament, which are about where the NIT was several years ago. Frankly, if you have enough to put forth as a guaranteed gate, you can host a game. If you don't, you may not even get an invitation to the tournament. Virginia was one of the first teams to accept an invite.
Richmond was rather non-competitive in its last two games, as it was blown out against Dayton, which was then ranked #16 in the country but had suffered some injuries which changed its season. This is a group that has some muscle up front in the persons of Dan Geriot and Gaston Moliva, but the Spiders do not hit the offensive boards very well, with only 7.2 offensive rebounds a game. When you are shooting just 44% in your Princeton offense, you are in trouble if you can't get second shots.
Virginia brings to the table the best player on the floor - Sean Singletary, who is a 20-point per game scorer. And Laurynas Mikalauskas has been a valuable contributor off the bench. But this is a team with only one starter shooting over 43%, and without an intimidating defensive presence of any kind up front.
The points may be worth taking here with Richmond, the 13-point underdog in the BetUS March Madness betting odds.
