Crimson Tide vs Wildcats: NCAA Basketball Game Odds
by Aaron Torres

Coming off three straight dominating victories, it’s been awhile since the No. 3 ranked Kentucky Wildcats have been challenged in the college basketball betting odds. If that is to change Tuesday night, it will take a great effort from the visiting Alabama Crimson Tide.
Alabama Crimson Tide (13-10 SU, 9-9-2 ATS) at No. 3 Kentucky Wildcats (22-1 SU, 11-10 ATS)
Tuesday, February 9: 9:00 p.m.
NCAA Betting Odds: Kentucky -15
Here are some NCAA Basketball Betting Trends which may impact this game:
- Alabama: 0-3 SU in their last 3 games
- Alabama: Total has gone UNDER in 4 of their last 5 games
- Kentucky: 4-1 SU in their last 5 games
- Kentucky: Total has gone OVER in 4 of their last 5 games
The Crimson Tide are playing under first year coach Anthony Grant, and are struggling, having lost six of their last eight games. Their biggest problem appears to be on the offensive end, where they simply don’t have the scorers to keep up with fellow SEC foes.
On the season, they rank just 162nd nationally in total scoring, averaging just a little over 68 points per game. And in the midst of their most recent struggles, it has been an even bigger problem, as they haven’t scored more than 70 points in any of their 10 games since the turn of the New Year. That just isn’t going to win basketball games in the rugged SEC.
As for Kentucky, the Wildcats have no such problems, under their own first year coach, John Calipari. They are ranked No. 3 in the country, and as we count down toward March, are looking as strong as any team in college basketball.
Although all the hype on this team has gone to freshman guard John Wall, it has actually been DeMarcus Cousins who has been this team’s best player of late. Cousins is an absolute load down low, with his production increasing exponentially as the year has gone on. He has scored double figures in his last 15 games, and has a staggering six straight double-doubles. Simply put, there isn’t a team in the SEC that has been able to stop him so far in 2010.
Cousins isn’t the Wildcats only skilled player however, as across the board, they’re getting contributions from several players. Junior Patrick Patterson is averaging 15 points a game, and has scored double-figures in Kentucky’s last three. Freshman guard Eric Bledsoe scores 10 points a game. And of course there’s Wall, who leads the SEC in assists (6.6 a game), and is tied with Cousins as this team’s leading scorer at 16.4 points per game.
Coming off their most dominating win of the season on Saturday against LSU, what stood out more than anything though, was the Wildcats defense. They held LSU to just 32 percent shooting, in a game that was over almost as soon as it started. Expect Tuesday night’s game to be quite similar.
No matter how you look at this game, there is simply no way that Alabama has the scorers to match up with the Wildcats. Because of it, this game should be over early, and Kentucky should win convincingly.
Take them in Tuesday’s ncaab betting odds.
