The Wisconsin Badgers have always been a hellion in tournament betting. Despite a roster that isn’t jam packed with stars, they have an excellent coaching staff that deploys a nauseatingly paced system that disrupts the tempo of their opponents.
The Badgers are a handy 5-1 SU in their last 6 games, but fell to Illinois in the Big Ten Championships. Despite the loss, they showed the type of fortitude in tournament betting that you can stand behind and a 4-2 ATS record over their last 6 games means they’re a pretty sound bet overall.
If not for the injury to star forward Jon Leuer at mid-season, the Badgers might very well be a much higher seed. In his past five games, Leuer has returned to his high profile form averaging 15.2 points per game.
At a heavy 6-foot-10 and 240 pounds, he’s a matchup nightmare for the lowly Wofford Terriers.

As the reigning Southern Conference champions, the Terriers are a very savvy underdog bet. They’ve gone 7-1 ATS when the point spread is against them this season, and overall they’re 10-4-1 ATS when playing in foreign territory.
The issue here is overcoming the fourth ranked, and stifling, defense of the Wisconsin Badgers.
As heady as Wofford has been in the past week of college basketball betting, they’re still not the type of team that you can trust. I love Wisconsin come tournament time where they’ve been known to cause major upsets.
Don’t be fooled by their fourth-seed ranking. The Badgers are a much better team than that indicates, and their defense could very well be the best in all of March Madness betting.
Round One betting rules state to never bet against a disciplined team that controls the pace with sterling defense in round one. It’s just too dangerous.
