With five Top 25 teams playing this evening, the NCAA basketball season is undoubtedly heating up and building momentum towards the conference tournaments and NCAA Tournament.

Here are my free picks for this evening's games:

Penn is 5-1 in conference play, while Pennsylvania averages 75 points per game while Princeton routinely struggles to reach 55, averaging only 51.6 points per game on the season. Take the Quakers to cover this high line by a couple of points.

Pick: Penn 73 Princeton 58

Result:

Both teams are 12-3 in conference play and Hofstra. Take the Pride and the eight points to cover this spread, which is just a little bit on the high side.

Pick: ODU 72 Hofstra 68

Result:

These teams are fairly evenly matched, although Tennessee needs this game in the worst way and should win. Take the Vols in a close call over Kentucky.

Pick: Tennessee 78 Kentucky 73

Result:

No. 6 Texas Tech team that doesn't have a true star. Take the Bobby Knights to cover this high spread, but not win outright.

Pick: Texas A&M 76 Texas Tech 71

Result:

No. 25 North Carolina in this ACC matchup between arguably the hottest team in the country (Carolina) and another very good, but underrated Virginia Tech team. Interestingly enough, the Tar Heels average almost 15 points per game more than Tech, making this line tough to figure out. However, this line is a bit too high - even for North Carolina. Take the Hokies to cover - barely.

Pick: Carolina 88 Virginia Tech 76

Result:

These two teams are almost equal in every important statistical category. Georgia Tech by one game, but averages less points per contest than the Yellowjackets (16-8). Take the Yellowjackets to not only cover, but win outright in this critical ACC conference matchup.

Pick: Georgia Tech 79 Florida State 75

Result:

Simple and plain, take Nebraska in every area.

Pick: Kansas State 71 Nebraska 66

Result:

Both of these teams are (17-8) and average 66 points per game. So why is Michigan favored by eight? Beats me, but this interstate rivalry will probably go down to the wire. Take Michigan to cover easily.

Pick: Michigan 68

Result:
