NCAA Basketball Picks – Oklahoma Hopes To Avoid Making History at No. 21 Texas

The Oklahoma Sooners will look to avoid revisiting a sore spot in their history when they hit the road to take on their Big 12 rivals, the Texas Longhorns at the Frank Erwin Center tonight at 9 PM ET.
Losers of six straight games, the Sooners will try to avoid losing seven straight for the first time in 41 years when they tip-off against the Longhorns tonight while Texas looks to bounce back from its own loss the last time out.

Oklahoma was handed a 70-63 loss by Baylor on Saturday despite getting a game-high 23 points from freshman forward Tiny Gallon as they shot an ice-cold 34.3 percent from the field and allowed Baylor to make 51.1 percent of their shots.
The Sooners failed to cash in as a 4.5-point NCAA basketball pick to fall to 1-5 ATS over its last six games and a bankroll-busting 2-8 ATS over the last 10 games overall.
Oklahoma averages 72.8 points per game this season but allows 73.1 points per contest defensively.
Texas 411
- Longhorns are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games.
- Longhorns are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games as a favorite.
- Longhorns are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record.

Texas was stunned by in-state rival Texas A&M in its 74-58 loss on Saturday. The Longhorns were outscored by eight points in each half as they failed to cash in as a 2-point road NCAA basketball pick.
The Longhorns shot a pitiful 36.8 percent from the field in the loss and were out-rebounded 34-25. Texas averages a stellar 81.7 points per game this season while holding their opponents to just 68.0 points per contest defensively.
The Scoop: Texas head coach Rick Barnes blames himself for his team’s struggles this season, after watching his team drop seven of its last 12 games following an unblemished 17-0 start this season.
"I look at it and it's probably one of the -- for whatever reason -- as poor a coaching job as I've ever done, because I haven't been able to get the message across consistently," Barnes said following Saturday's 74-58 loss at No. 22 Texas A&M.
Longhorns’ senior forward Damion James averages a team-high 17.5 points and a conference-best 10.3 rebounds and is the Big 12's all-time leading rebounder.
Texas is one of just four Big 12 teams the Sooners have managed to beat this season while the Longhorns are shooting a Big 12-worst 61.9 percent from the free throw line.
The Sooners shot 2 of 18 from 3-point range and generally couldn’t hit the floor with their collective hats the last time out.
"It's amazing when you look at our percentage of shooting the basketball that we were actually in this game and had a chance to win late," said Oklahoma head coach Jeff Capel.
Analysis: Let me be honest and just say that the Texas Longhorns will not lose their final regular-season home game tonight against an Oklahoma ballclub that is absolutely reeling at this point.
I know the Longhorns have looked mediocre at best in losing seven of 12 since starting the season 17-0, but the fact of the matter is that Texas has plenty of talent even if they don’t always show it by playing together.
The Longhorns should be primed for success tonight as they look to extract some serious revenge for the 80-71 loss put on them by the Sooners on Feb. 6.
I know the Sooners have actually won two of the last three meetings while going 2-1 ATS, but Oklahoma is playing such poor basketball that I just can’t seem them winning this contest no matter how hard they play.
While tonight’s high point spread gives me reason to hesitate, I’m going to advise college hoops bettors everywhere to play the Longhorns to cover the college hoops odds as Texas A&M has suffered three of their last six losses by 13 points or more while losing four of their last six by 10 points or more.
The home team in this series has gone a perfect 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings while the favorite has gone 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Sooners have struggled mightily to cash in against the Longhorns in recent meetings, going a discouraging 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings against Texas and 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings against the Longhorns when they play in Texas.
I know the Longhorns have gone a disappointing 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games as a favorite, but I think the Longhorns close out their 2010 home schedule in fine fashion – by routing their longtime rivals, the Oklahoma Sooners en route to an emphatic SU and ATS victory.
