NCAAB: ACC Clash Tonight Between Duke and Maryland

The Duke Blue Devils have solidified themselves as the best team in the ACC Conference this NCAAB Season. The Blue Devils are 25 and 4 straight-up. They take on their closest competitor in the ACC, the 21 and 7 Maryland Terrapins, on Wednesday night.
The #4 ranked Blue Devils could secure a top seed should they beat Maryland, win out in conference play, and then take home the ACC Conference crown with a championship victory in the ACC Tournament.
Duke is not only the best team in the ACC straight-up but they are the best team ATS in the conference as well. With a 17-9-2 record, Duke has shown the ability to provide profits to sports gamblers throughout the season. They will be looking to do so again on Wednesday night against a formidable opponent in the Maryland Terrapins.
The #23 ranked Terrapins have gone 8 and 2 straight-up in their last 10 games. They’ve been fairly decent against the spread at home with a 7 and 4 record.
Maryland faces a difficult opponent in Duke on Wednesday night, however. Before handicapping this game any further, let’s take a look at the college betting line.
Duke Blue Devils -1 ½ -110 O 146 ½ -110
Maryland Terrapins +1 ½ -110 U 146 ½ -110
Tip-off: 9:00 pm EST
When it comes to the NCAAB trends, sports gamblers pretty much will need to pick and choose. Check out the trends below to see what I mean.
- The Maryland Terrapins are 12 and 3 ATS in their last 15 games.
- The Maryland Terrapins are 1 and 6 ATS in their last 7 games as an underdog at home.
- The Duke Blue Devils are 4-1-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.
- The Duke Blue Devils are 3-5-1 ATS on the road this season.
With trends favoring both teams, and such a small wagering spread, sports gamblers have no choice but to look at other stats before making a final decision on which wager to make.
The best player on the court tonight figures to be Maryland guard Greivis Vasquez. Vasquez has been a terror this season to opposing defenses. He averages 19.5 points per game, 4.8 rebounds, and 6.4 assists.
The man put up 41 points against Virginia Tech on the road in the Terps last game. He’s easily one of the top players in college basketball but will he be enough tonight?
The problem for Maryland in this game is that Duke has four to five players on their roster that can play in the NBA. It showed the last time these two teams met. In that game, the Blue Devils routed Maryland 77 to 56.
John Scheyer put up 22 points, Nolan Smith had 14 points and 6 assists, Kyle Singler had 10 points and 6 rebounds and Brian Zoubek had 16 points and 17 rebounds.
The Blue Devils are incredibly balanced. That’s the reason they routed Maryland the last time the two teams met and that’s the reason that they should cover the 1 ½ point spread in tonight’s game.
Maryland is a good team and Greivis Vasquez is great, but the Terrapins don’t have the balance that Duke has. I have to go with the Dookies in this one.
