The Redbirds are coming off a 65-61 loss to Wichita State on Saturday as just two players reached double figures in scoring. Marcus Johnson scored a team-high 18 points for Dayton in its 78-73 loss to Xavier in the Atlantic 10 Tournament quarterfinals in Atlantic City on Friday night. The Flyers failed to cover the March Madness betting odds as 3.5-point underdogs to fall to 0-3 ATS over the last three games.

Analysis: Illinois State may have a slightly better SU record than Dayton, but they are certainly not winning this contest over a Flyers team that is just as good offensively and slightly better at the defensive end of the floor.

However, I do like the Redbirds to cover the college basketball point spread in a closer-than-expected loss.

Dayton has gone just 2-3 SU on neutral courts while Illinois State has recorded a respectable 1-1 SU mark in neutral site games. Dayton went just 37 SU in away games while Illinois State went 6-7 SU on the road this season.

I think Dayton’s 1-5 ATS mark in their last six games as a favorite and 0-3-1 ATS record in their last four games overall will likely come back to haunt them tonight.
