College Football Week 12 - Players in the Dog House
by Mike Rose

As I reflect on the college football point spreads last week.
Miami QB Jacory Harris: Harris had arguably his worst game as the starting quarterback of the Canes on Saturday afternoon. He did throw for 319 yards, but that was largely because of the fact that Miami was playing from behind for the majority of the game. The super-sophomore only went 28/50 passing and threw four interceptions. That raised his total for the L/4 weeks up to nine picks and gave him a whopping 16 for the season. There's a reason that "The U" is only 1-3 ATS since the middle of October.
Utah RB Eddie Wide and his offensive line: Wide was having a fantastic season for the Utes before he ran into the TCU defense. He had rushed for 810 yards this year, 742 of which came in the L/6 games. Wide eclipsed the 100-yard barrier and averaged at least 5.6 yards per carry in each of those contests. It wasn't from a lack of effort against the Horned Frogs, as HC Kyle Whittingham let him tote the rock 14 times, but 25 yards on those touches just isn't going to get it done against the #4 team in the country.
South Florida Bulls OC Mike Canales: Talk about an awful game plan! The Bulls were never in their contest with Rutgers on Thursday night. QB BJ Daniels went 7/17 for 129 yards and two picks, while the rushing game only produced 30 yards on 32 carries. Mustering 159 yards of total offense just isn't going to cut it against anyone at the FBS level, especially for a team that is still fighting to make a bowl game.
Louisville might be awful, but another effort like this out of South Florida's offense will be fatal to its bowl chances. Of USF's six wins this season, only one, the 30-19 victory against West Virginia two weeks ago, came against a team certain to lace up their bowling shoes.
Wake Forest QB Riley Skinner: This isn't so much a knock on what Skinner did against Florida State as much as it is one on him for the season. With his team's chances for going to a bowl game on the line against one of the worst defenses in the ACC, the fourth year starting quarterback of the Demon Deacons went just 25/40 for 227 yards with a touchdown and two picks.
Deacons fans expected a whole heck of a lot more out of their team on the season with Skinner back under center, but all they've gotten is a 4-7 campaign and a year of disappointment. He has completed 65.2% of his passes for 2,788 yards and 21 touchdowns, but one more interception will tie his career-high at 13. Now, there's just one game left in his collegiate career, and it is a totally meaningless affair.
