College Football Week 2 Preview (23)Notre Dame @ Michigan

NCAAF Preview: Michigan vs. Notre Dame Highlights Week 2 in College Football

After the first week of the 2009 College Football Betting Season, a couple of things are apparently clear. First, the Oklahoma Sooners will not win the Big 12 this year. Second, the Florida Gators are as good as they were in 2008. Third, Pete Carroll is smarter than most of us because, yes, a college Freshman quarterback can be exceptional for a top five ranked team.

Other than that, a lot of things are still undecided. After all, it’s only the second week of the season, right? Let’s take a look at what’s in store this week in college football.

NCAAF: Week 2

Best Game - - #23 Notre Dame vs. Michigan

Mark my words. This is going to be a close game. How close? As close as any game we’re likely to see in 2009. We have throw out the idea that Michigan Wolverines looked terrific this Saturday. Granted, they were playing a cream putt but they face a traditional this week and they face them in the Big House. Michigan will not let the Irish embarrass them at home. This is the game to watch because if Michigan comes out and absolute dominates Notre Dame then all of a sudden the Wolverines become the team to beat in the Big Ten.

Other Top Games to Watch

Vanderbilt vs. #11 LSU - - The Fighting Tigers of LSU ended up doing very well against Washington, but they allowed the Huskies to put up more points than they should have. Vanderbilt is never scared of LSU and the Commodore’s have a more than decent defense. This will be a good game to gauge how well the Fighting Tigers will do in the SEC this year.

South Carolina vs. #13 Georgia - - Whatever the under is in this game, bet it! Neither team figures to put up a lot of points. South Carolina could take a step in the right direction, and end Georgia’s season almost, by beating the Bulldogs on the road. The Bulldogs will be fighting to bounce back and establish themselves as a force in the SEC. It’s only the second week and already these two teams have a lot to lose.

UCLA at Tennessee - - UCLA looked good versus San Diego State. Tennessee looked awesome versus Western Kentucky. UCLA upset Tennessee last year. This year, Tennessee will be looking for payback. If Tennessee rolls in this game, then forget it. They could be the top challenger to the Florida Gators in the SEC in 2009.

Over Hyped Game of the Week

#4 USC vs. #6 Ohio State - - Besides fans of the Buckeyes, does anybody care? The Buckeyes gave up 27 points to Navy. Quarterback Matt Barkley and USC are going to go crazy. The Buckeyes’ offensive line hasn’t gelled yet either. This game should be over by halftime with Ohio State chalking up another embarrassing loss at the hands of the mighty Trojans.

Upset Alert

#22 Iowa vs. Iowa State - - Iowa State has 29 juniors and 20 seniors on their squad. That’s enough of a reason for me to say that they will pose a serious threat to ranked Hawkeyes. Oh, yeah, Iowa State also romped versus their cupcake opponent this past Saturday. Iowa barely beat their cupcake by a single point.

Purdue vs. #16 Oregon - - Oregon shouldn’t drop out of the Top 25 but even if they do they will be big favorites over the Boilermakers. Oregon had issues offensively besides LeGarrette Blount last Thursday night. The Boilermakers, who some consider one of the five worst teams in college football this year, were impressive against Toledo when putting up 52 points.
