College Football’s Biggest Games – Part III
by Aaron Torres

Before looking at the college football betting odds, there are several important factors to keep in mind. None is more important than your favorite team’s schedule.
Who are they playing? At home or on the road? In the heat of September? The frigid cold of December? Those are all questions that need to be answered before making your wagers.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at some more of the biggest games heading into the season.
Georgia Tech at North Carolina, Saturday, September 18: Think your season can’t be made or broken by the end of September? Think again, as one of these ACC Coastal favorites will behind the eight ball just one conference game into the season.
This matchup in specific will be an exciting one, as North Carolina’s disciplined, skilled defense (which boasts as many as half a dozen future Josh Nesbitt ran wild in a 24-7 victory in Atlanta and Georgia Tech got their first conference win on the way to an ACC title.
In 2010 however, the matchup has shifted back to Chapel Hill. Will this be the first victory on North Carolina’s way to an ACC Championship? Can Georgia Tech repeat? Will neither finish on top? Only time will tell.
Clemson at Auburn, Saturday, September 18: While Clemson and Auburn won’t be playing for conference supremacy on September 18, there is still plenty at stake, as this ACC-SEC intersectional matchup will captivate college football fans.
We’ll see very different approaches from these two teams, starting with Auburn, who’ll use a power running attack to try to put points on the board. Expect Mario Fannin and Onterio McCalebb to be splitting carries with high school All-American Michael Dyer for the Tigers. This will be just the third start for new Auburn quarterback Cam Newton.
As for the other Tigers, Clemson got big news this past week, when quarterback Kyle Parker announced that he’d be putting a professional baseball future (He was a first round pick by the Colorado Rockies this past June) on hold, to come back to Clemson for another season. He returns to a talented offense, but one that must replace superstar running back C.J. Spiller.
So which group of Tigers will have the advantage in the college football betting odds? You won’t need to wait long to find out.
Florida at Tennessee, Saturday, September 18: A year ago, this was the matchup America was waiting for, as the “Mouth of the South,” Lane Kiffin took his Tennessee Volunteers to the Swamp to battle with Florida. Well this year, Kiffin has skipped town for USC, and it’ll be new coach Derek Dooley’s job to beat Urban Meyer.
Each team will enter this matchup with a new man under center. Florida of course must replace Mr. Everything, Tim Tebow, and will do so with a former high school All-American, redshirt junior John Brantley at quarterback. As for Tennessee they’ll have a familiar name under center, as Matt Simms (Son of former Giants QB Phil Simms), will take over.
This has been one of the great rivalries in the college football betting odds for years, and 2010 will be no different.
