- What can you say about the UCLA Bruins? Not much, aside from the fact that they made every analyst from Miami to Seattle look like a fool. Man, I love football.
- Arkansas Head Coach Houston Nutt is absolutely insane. I’m convinced of this. He’s had three quarterbacks this season, none of whom have lost their job due to injury. This weekend he had RB Darren McFadden throw a touchdown pass and he had WR Cedric Washington do the same! One trick play I can tolerate. Two? That takes some guts…and a whole lot of crazy.
- The match between the Gators and the Razorbacks was one of the most exciting football games I have ever seen. Top to bottom it was a great display of football from both sides.
- USC had scored twenty points or more in 63 straight games before losing to the Bruins.
- Did anyone else see how pissed Urban Meyer was that he got doused in Gatorade with 0:52 remaining in the fourth? It’s a good thing they won, because he would’ve been pissed and drenched. Never a good combo.
- West Virginia’s Jarett Brown played amazingly for a backup quarterback. He finished the day with 244 passing yards, 73 rushing yards and two scores.
- The fairytale is over for Greg Schiano and Rutgers. They have nothing to be ashamed about. That was one hell of a season that they put together. No wonder the University of Miami is banging on Schiano’s door for their former defensive coordinator to return. Too bad for Miami that Schiano is staying right at home with Rutgers. Should make for an interesting season in Jersey next year.
- Georgia Tech’s Reggie Ball did nothing to help his draft status. He played absolutely atrocious on Saturday. He completed 31% of his passes (9/29) and ended with two interceptions and no scores. If you saw the game, or the highlights, you’d know what I mean. Ouch.
- Reggie Fish is an absolute bonehead. He caught a punt over his shoulder in the end-zone…and fumbled. He was then molested by about seven Gators who retrieved it for a score. The score was the final outcome of a fantastic defensive showing by the Razorbacks. Sometimes the best play is to not make a play.
- Sooner’s QB Paul Thompson led an electrifying 99-yard drive down the field for a score, on 11 plays. It was a long drive that even Tiger Woods would’ve respected.
- Can we stop hyping quarterbacks from Hawaii University please? QB Colt Brennan has been receiving a serious amount of praise for his statistics. Well, Hawaii QB Timmy Chang did the exact same thing and where’s he now? You don’t know? Neither does anybody else. End the madness now.
- The biggest hit of the weekend was taken by UCLA’s Patrick Cowan, who was run over by a rhino masquerading as a defensive player for USC.
