NCAAF Week 7 Betting - Central Florida Knights vs. Miami Hurricanes
by Mike Rose

Miami Hurricanes (2-3, 2-2 ATS).
Although neither school will be involved in the running for a major bowl bid, both teams need a victory to get one step closer towards bowl eligibility. It’s also a battle that will go a long way towards winning recruiting wars in the prospect-heavy South Florida high schools.
Central Florida bettors successfully salvaged a backdoor push when they squared off with the Southern Methodist Mustangs in last Saturday’s NCAAF betting match-up. They were two touchdown favorites, but were in a 10-10 game heading into the locker room at the break.
HC George O’Leary made a change at the quarterback position, bringing in initial starter Mike Greco, who responded by throwing two touchdown passes in the second half, including a 15-yard strike with just 1:34 remaining to secure the 31-17 win. RB Ronnie Weaver appears to have emerged from a muddled running back crop to be the primary man to replace Kevin Smith. He carried the ball 25 times for 123 yards and a touchdown against SMU.
DB Joe Burnett lit a fire under the Knights, racking up 114 return yards and one of the three UCF interceptions against Mustangs QB Bo Levi Mitchell.
The Canes fell behind 24-0 against Florida State, and though they staged a dramatic comeback, never led against their rivals from Tallahassee.
It was almost a stunning backdoor for Hurricanes bettors, most of who already ripped up their betting tickets with Miami a one-point favorite. QB Robert Marve battled the rain and the Seminoles defense valiantly, but finished the day just 17-of-40 for 123 yards and two picks.
The bright spot for Miami was the play of freshman WR Travis Benjamin, who did it all for the Canes, catching three passes for 71 yards, rushing for 18 yards, and recording 184 return yards, with two total touchdowns.
Miami is now just 3-12 SU and 4-11 ATS in their L/15 ACC games, and have now lost both of their non-FCS games in their new home, Dolphin Stadium.
The NCAA betting line has been set at Miami –15.
Miami has had a pretty good history against Conference USA, going 7-1 SU since 1996, but the CFB betting trends suggests that UCF may stay within the number. The Canes are just 1-5 ATS in their L/6 against C-USA. A similar trend is true for the Knights, who are 1-5 SU but 3-2-1 ATS versus the ACC since 1996.
