ABOUT NEBRASKA:
The Good News -- The performance against Texas had to be encouraging for a while, even though it resulted in a loss. But the Huskers at least tried, this is something they hadn't done in the previous three games. QB Sam Keller had a decent season, completing 63% of his passes for 2422 yards and 14 TD's. Which leads to...
The Bad News -- Keller is out for the season with a broken clavicle. Where do we go from there? The Huskers have lost four straight games and dropped seven of their last eight against the number. Nebraska is dead last in the nation in rushing defense, allowing almost 243 yards a game and 5.4 yards an attempt and Texas' Jamaal Charles ran for 216 yards in the fourth quarter against them. Nebraska has gotten no pressure on the passer, with just nine QB sacks. And everyone seems to understand that coach Bill Callahan will be gone at the end of the season.
NEBRASKA TRENDS:
* NEB is 1-7 ATS in its last eight games
* NEB has played five straight games under the total
* NEB is 1-5-1 ATS in its last seven road games
* NEB has played under the total in its last five road games
ABOUT KANSAS:
The Good News -- As long as the Jayhawks stay undefeated, their national title hopes are still alive. Right now they stand at #8 in the BCS standings. Kansas has covered all seven games that have been on the board this season. All told, they have outscored opponents by a margin of 42.5--10.3, which is somewhat deceiving because some of the opponents have been weak. Still, this team has come up big with wins at Texas A&M, Kansas State. That represents a reversal of recent history. Todd Reesing is 19th in the country in passing, and has thrown just four INT's in 253 attempts. Kansas ranks fifth in scoring offense, second in scoring defense, 11th in total offense, fifth in total defense, first in kickoff returns and third in turnover margin.
The Bad News -- Only that enthusiasm should be tempered just a little because Kansas has yet to face a nationally-ranked team.
KANSAS TRENDS:
* KANSAS has covered 11 of its last 12 games
* KANSAS has played four of seven games under the total
* KANSAS is 7-0 SU, 6-0 ATS in its last seven home games
* KANSAS has covered 15 of its last 20 as a favorite
THE BOTTOM LINE: Nebraska has given up 308 rushing yards a game over its last four, something that will be inviting to Kansas' Brandon McAnderson, who was uncorked to the tune of 183 yards against college football betting line.
