College Football Trends - Best UNDER Teams

Bookmark and Share by Mike Rose

Even though there have been plenty of offensive fireworks so far in this college football betting season, not every game has been a barnburner. Check out which teams you should be looking to place ‘under’ bets on with BetUS’s NCAA Football ‘under’ power poll…

1: Boise State Broncos (2-0) There haven’t been many more impressive defensive teams in the country than Boise State through the first two weeks of the season. The Broncos have held Oregon and Miami Ohio to just eight total points in two matches. The test will be harder this week on the road against a Fresno team that will be looking to avenge the 61-10 romp it absorbed last year.

Up Next: Away @ Fresno State

2: Missouri Tigers (2-0) HC Gary Pinkel has to be happy that his offense has put up 64 points in two games in spite of the fact that QB Chase Daniel, WR Jeremy Maclin, and TE Chase Coffman have all left the team. He has to be even happier that his defense has held its first two foes to just 14.5 points per game.

Up Next: Home vs. Furman

3: Nebraska Cornhuskers (2-0) The Black Shirts look to be back and better than they have been in quite some time. However, allowing 6.0 points per game to two Sun Belt teams is pretty much expected. If the ‘D’ comes up with a similar effort this week, the Huskers should be in a good position to move to 3-0 and into the Top-10 in the country.

Up Next: Away @ Virginia Tech

4: Penn State Nittany Lions (2-0) Should HC Joe Paterno be happy that his Nittany Lions have held their first two foes to just 14 points, or disappointed at how many points they’ve left on the board against two weak opponents? If QB Darryl Clark and RB Evan Royster don’t start to put up more impressive numbers, PSU will be putting up a ton of ‘under’ games in the Big Ten.

Up Next: Home vs. Temple

5: Connecticut Huskies (2-0) After watching some of the ugly Connecticut games of last season, it’s no wonder why the Huskies start off the ’09 season on the list of the best ‘under’ teams in America. Once again, HC Randy Edsall really doesn’t have a passing game to speak of, which means plenty of short football betting affairs are ahead.

Up Next: Away @ Baylor

6: Oklahoma Sooners (2-0) Without QB Sam Bradford, it’s not shocking that the Sooners are yet to put a game ‘over’ the ‘total’ this season. In fairness, the offense did put up 64 points last week, but pitching a shutout kept the game with Idaho State ‘under’ the number. The ‘O’ is gonna need another good game in all likelihood to keep up with the potent offense of the Golden Hurricane.

Up Next: Home vs. Tulsa

7: Syracuse Orange (2-0) The Orange haven’t established anything offensively yet this season. The squad ranks 112th in the land in total yards (228.5 per game) and 108th in points (13.5 per game). I guess that’s what happens when your quarterback is a point guard…

Up Next: Home vs. Northwestern

8: Wake Forest Demon Deacons (2-0) Demon Deacons bettors probably expected more from their offense with QB Riley Skinner back for his fourth season as a starting quarterback. Odds have it, they’ll put up a lot better numbers this week with an FCS foe coming to Winston-Salem.

Up Next: Home vs. Elon

And the rest…

9: Minnesota Golden Gophers (0-2)

10: Tulsa Golden Hurricane (0-2)

11: UTEP Miners (0-2)

12: Bowling Green Falcons (0-2)

13: Miami Redhawks (0-2)

14: Stanford Cardinal (0-2)

15: Arizona Wildcats (0-2)
