College Football Week 5 Rankings - Big XII Power Poll

Bookmark and Share by Mike Rose

The 2009 college football betting season continues with its fifth week of play this week. Check out how BetUS stacks up this power conference after most teams have played four games in ’09…

1: Nebraska Cornhuskers (4-0 ATS, 3-1 SU) (LW: 1) - The pollsters have been a little unfair to the Cornhuskers. If not for that late loss in Blacksburg, they'd probably be ranked somewhere near or in the Top-5. They proved their value last week to football bettors by cruising past Louisiana-Lafayette. The Big XII schedule starts next week with one of the best games on the docket in Columbia.

Up Next: Away @ Missouri 10/8

2: Missouri Tigers (3-1 ATS, 4-0 SU) (LW: 4) Missouri showed the entire country that it can still play on Friday night when it traveled across the country to Reno and knocked off the Wolfpack. A huge fourth quarter sewed up the victory. Now, the Tigers are ranked in the Top-25 and could make another big time statement if they can knock off the Huskers next week.

Up Next: Home vs. Nebraska 10/8

3: Kansas Jayhawks (2-1 ATS, 4-0 SU) (LW: 2) - Southern Mississippi gave the Jayhawks all they could handle last week. Even though it didn't cover the spread, KU's victory certainly won't hurt them going forward. Two more games should be nothing more than a formality before the Sooners come to town. QB Todd Reesing has already thrown for almost 1,200 yards this year.

Up Next: Home vs. Iowa State 10/10 (Homecoming)

4: Oklahoma Sooners (2-1 ATS, 2-1 SU) (LW: 5) - HC Bob Stoops will be happy that his Sooners are back in the Top-25 after a bye week, but he just has to be disappointed in the fact that Miami was blown away by Virginia Tech. Now, what could've been a landmark victory to propel Oklahoma back into the National Championship picture looks more like a game that can't do anything but hurt.

Up Next: Away @ Miami (-7)

5: Texas Tech Red Raiders (2-1 ATS, 2-2 SU) (LW: 3) - The Red Raiders did everything they could in Houston last week, but the Cougars ultimately pulled off the mild upset with a late touchdown that proved to be the game-winner in a 29-28 contest. QB Taylor Potts has already thrown for 1,602 yards this season, leading the #3 passing attack in the country at 413.5 yards per game. They might post triple-digits this week taking their frustration out on the woeful Lobos.

Up Next: Home vs. New Mexico (-35.5)

6: Baylor Bears (2-1 ATS, 2-1 SU) (LW: 6) - Baylor did what it needed to do this week by dismantling Northwestern State. There's one more tune up coming on the schedule before the Bears head up to Norman for what could be a program-defining game against the Sooners. Unfortunately, they’ll be without stud QB Robert Griffin the rest of the season after he tore his ACL in Saturday’s romp over Northwestern State.

Up Next: Home vs. Kent State (OTB)

And the rest…

7: Texas A&M Aggies (2-1 ATS, 3-0 SU) (LW: 7)

8: Iowa State Cyclones (2-1 ATS, 3-1 SU) (LW: 8)

9: Colorado Buffaloes (1-1 ATS, 1-2 SU (LW: 9)

10: Oklahoma State Cowboys (1-2 ATS, 3-1 SU) (LW: 10)

11: Texas Longhorns (1-3 ATS, 4-0 SU) (LW: 11)

12: Kansas State Wildcats (1-2 ATS, 2-2 SU) (LW: 12)
