College Football Week 5 Rankings - Big East Power Poll

Bookmark and Share by Mike Rose

It was a tough week for Big East betting fans, but the conference still has one of the best ATS marks in America. Find out how the teams stack up against each other in this week's power poll from BetUS...

1: Connecticut Huskies (4-0 ATS, 3-1 SU) (LW: 3) - The Huskies are the last undefeated ATS team standing in the Big East after dismantling Rhode Island last week. They're on a bye this week, and with a huge road test coming on the horizon at Heinz Field, HC Randy Edsall will have his work cut out for him.

Up Next: Bye

2: Cincinnati Bearcats (3-1 ATS, 4-0 SU) (LW: 1) - Cincinnati may not have covered the spread against Fresno State, but any victory is a good one. The Bearcats are up to #11 in this week's AP Poll, and with a favorable schedule from here on out, the Big East crown may not be the only jewel that they're chasing after. Three of the next four are on the road, but if you've got to play road games, playing at Miami Ohio, South Florida, and Syracuse are decent places to play.

Up Next: Away @ Miami (OH) (-27.5)

3: Syracuse Orange (3-1 ATS, 2-2 SU) (LW: 2) - It wasn't pretty, but the Orange found a way to figure out how to beat FCS Maine on Saturday. The QB Greg Paulus experiment is going much better than most expected. He has completed 68.4% of his passes for 888 yards with six touchdowns against four picks on the year. Those numbers aren't fantastic, but they're stupendous for a point guard.

Up Next: Home vs. South Florida (+6.5)

4: South Florida Bulls (2-1 ATS, 4-0 SU) (LW: 7) - How the heck did the Bulls pull this one off? No one gave USF a shot going into Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee last weekend without QB Matt Grothe, but QB BJ Daniels played well in his absence. The defensive line was dominant against the Noles' O-Line, and the end result was a 17-7 'W'. It was arguably the biggest win in the history of the program.

Up Next: Away @ Syracuse (-6.5)

5: Pittsburgh Panthers (2-1 ATS, 3-1 SU) (LW: 4) - Pitt just had to win its game on Saturday in Raleigh, but thanks to a late-game collapse and an overall poor defensive effort, the Panthers ended up losing. The good news is that the Big East season still hasn't started for the Panthers, and the first test this week shouldn't be an overly difficult one.

Up Next: Away @ Louisville (-6.5)

6: Louisville Cardinals (1-1 ATS, 1-2 SU) (LW: 4) - The Cardinals never really had a chance against an angry Utah squad last week. Now, the Big East schedule gets started, and without posting at least a .500 record in division, a bowl game is out of the question.

Up Next: Home vs. Pittsburgh (+6.5)

And the rest…

7: West Virginia Mountaineers (1-1 ATS, 2-1 SU) (LW: 6)

8: Rutgers Scarlet Knights (1-3 ATS, 3-1 SU) (LW: 8)
