NCAA Football Betting Trends - PAC 10 Power Poll

A ton of teams in the Pac-10 got off to fantastic ATS starts to the 2009 season. BetUS Sportsbook presents the power poll for the West Coast squads through one week of the college football betting year…

1: USC Trojans (1-0 ATS, 1-0 SU) The Trojans were expected to dump San Jose State fairly easily, and fairly easily they picked up the victory. True freshman QB Matt Barkley had a great debut for the men of Troy, going 15/19 for 233 yards and a touchdown. RB Joe McKnight was fantastic as well, rushing the ball 14 times for 145 yards and two scores. After outgaining SJSU 621-121, what can USC do next?

Up Next: Away @ Ohio State

2: Stanford Cardinal (1-0 ATS, 1-0 SU) Any time you can go on the road and pick up an easy ATS victory, you’ve accomplished something, even if that road game is at Washington State. Stanford disposed of the Cougars with ease behind 121 rushing yards and two touchdowns for RB Toby Gerhart. With a win next week, the Cardinal may be set to go bowling.

Up Next: Away @ Wake Forest

3: Washington Huskies (1-0 ATS, 0-1 SU) HC Steve Sarkisian’s debut in Washington was nearly phenomenal. QB Jake Locker threw for 320 yards and rushed for another 52, but in the end, he couldn’t quite muster enough offense in Washington’s 31-23 defeat. Still, Sarkisian has to be thrilled with the effort from his team. The Huskies will be much improved this year, but it’s still going to be awhile before they are really competitive in the Pac-10.

Up Next: Home vs. Idaho

4: California Golden Bears (1-0 ATS, 1-0 SU) Did Cal just take the first step towards an incredibly special season? RB Jahvid Best set the tone for the Bears, ripping off a 73-yard touchdown run just about five minutes into the season, and QB Kevin Riley’s four touchdown passes made quick work of an overmatched Maryland squad. Sailing should be pretty clear until USC comes to town on October 3rd.

Up Next: Home vs. Eastern Washington

5: Arizona State Sun Devils (0-0 ATS, 1-0 SU) ASU made short work out of Idaho State, racking up a 50-3 victory. The defense was absolutely dominant, as the Sun Devils held the Bengals to just four 1st downs and 37 total yards of offense. There’s a week off before another cupcake hits the schedule, but after facing Louisiana-Monroe, things get a lot harder in a hurry.

Up Next: Bye

6: UCLA Bruins (1-0 ATS, 1-0 SU) The Bruins didn’t start well or finish well against the Aztecs, and it nearly cost their sports bettors a victory. Turning the ball over three times against a poor SDSU team leaves a lot to be desired. If HC Rick Neiuheisel thinks that his Bruins are going bowling, things will have to get better quickly.

Up Next: Away @ Tennessee

And the rest…

7: Oregon State Beavers (0-0 ATS, 1-0 SU)

8: Arizona Wildcats (0-1 ATS, 0-1 SU)

9: Oregon Ducks (0-1 ATS, 0-1 SU)

10: Washington State Cougars (0-1 ATS, 0-1 SU)
