Army vs Navy - Betting Breakdown

One of the most historical games in all of college football will take place on Saturday, as Army and Navy will square off at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.  The first meeting between these two teams took place back in 1890, and they have met 117 times overall. Army snapped a 14-game losing streak in this series with a win last season, and Navy leads the all-time series 60-50-7.

This will be the 87th time this rivalry took place in Philadelphia. They recently played there in 2015, and overall Navy has won 44 times in Philadelphia. Let's take a look at the 2017 version of the Army Black Knights and Navy Midshipmen.

The Army Black Knights are 8-3 on the season and have won 6 of their last 7 games. Army lost their season finale on the road at North Texas, when they allowed 52 points. The Black Knights are an independent team that does not play in a conference, so they played all sorts of different programs this season. The Black Knights also lost on the road at Ohio State and on the road at Tulane.

The Black Knights simply do not pass the football. Ahmad Bradshaw is the quarterback and threw just 39 passes all season long (that's not a typo). He finished with 259 passing yards and a touchdown. He also threw 2 interceptions on the season. The run game saw four guys rush for over 500+ yards. Ahmad Bradshaw was the leading rusher for Army with 11 touchdowns and over 1,400 yards. Darnell Woolfolk also has 11 touchdowns on the season.

The Midshipmen of Navy are going to a bowl game, but before they do that, they have to finish the regular season. The Midshipmen have dropped five out of their last six games. The lone win during that time came over SMU when they scored 43 points. The last two losses for Navy were on the road at Notre Dame and at Houston.

Just like their opponent, the Navy Midshipmen also rarely run the football. Navy is the 2nd best rushing team in the country with nearly 350 yards per game. The running back situation for the Midshipmen saw their quarterback Zach Abey run wild with 1,322 yards and 14 touchdowns. Malcolm Perry is the top running back as he carried the football 92 times for 818 yards and 8 touchdowns. The Midshipmen finished 3rd in the West Division of the American Athletic Conference.

The Midshipmen of Navy are the favorite in this game. Navy has owned this series, and are looking to get back on track. Army took care of getting them a season ago, and you can bet the Midshipmen remember that. In a small spread, the favorites should be able to take care of this game. Take the Navy Midshipmen -3 over the Black Knights of Army.
